I redesigned two mages I drew once like 4 years ago so I can upload them on toyhouse. I'd say it was a massive improvement on the original.
The original in question:
Ludin: hey rieta monsterfucking is a thing
Killian: I will literally kill you
Holy shit, how has it been almost ten years already-
Sometimes I really want to read a short summary of what to expect from a game with a very particular description that CATER to my OWN SPECIFIC interests, so here we go.
what to expect from BANNER SAGA 1
tactical 2D rpg with turn based combat
it is set in a fantasy world which is Norse-inspired, where suddenly the sun stopped moving, and the Dredge (who used to be at war with humans and giants and are believed to be extinct) come back
you play two storylines at the same time, until they meet and merge
in one story you play as Ubin and other varls (giants) escorting a human prince to the Varl capital, to sign an alliance
in the other story you play as Rook and Alette, a hunter and his daughter, who see Dredge arriving and have to guide their village away, to run to safety
you follow these two caravans moving
the game is divided in three types of gameplay: in one you simply fight (turn based), in another you manage resources (choos ewhen to rest the caravans, use/buy supply, manage morale) and in another you select dialogue options
your choices have consequences, but most of them are hard to predict
the game is beautifully drawn, with long scenes of travelling caravans. It can get a bit old if you replay multiple times
it is also a short game (about 10 hours)
you will resolve one of the plot points, but the main plot will be left for the following games, so I would suggest playing it only if you know you can play the second game and the third game
you mainly control a couple of characters through the game
the game will follow its own timeflown, you cannot decide to go and speak with a character. The game will give you the option to speak with specific characters when the plot needs it
plot? The sun suddenly stopped moving and the ancient Dredge are back, killing humans and giants. You follow the story of a group of giants trying to get a human prince to safety, to sign an alliance, and of a group of humans trying to escape the dredge. gameplay? turn based combat, managing the caravans, minimal choices through dialogue characters? Most characters are barely fleshed out. The main focus is on Rook and his daughter Alette. Other characters have some backstory and interactions, but not extensively. sadness level? medium death? under cut for spoilers
