Hawaiian Kalua Pork in a Slow Cooker will make you feel like you're on vacation. The smoky flavors, tender pork, and fragrant spices will make you feel like you're at a Hawaiian luau without leaving your kitchen.
Ingredients: 4-5 pounds pork butt or shoulder, bone-in. 1 1/2 tablespoons liquid smoke. 1 1/2 tablespoons sea salt. 1 tablespoon garlic powder. 1 tablespoon onion powder. 1 tablespoon smoked paprika. 1/2 cup water. Banana leaves optional, for wrapping.
Instructions: With a sharp knife, make deep cuts about an inch apart in the pork shoulder or butt. Mix liquid smoke, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika together and rub it into the pork. Make sure the seasoning gets into all the cuts. Add water to the slow cooker and put the pork in it. Leave the lid on and set the heat to low. Cook for 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is soft and can be easily shred with a fork. Once the pork is done, use two forks to shred it and mix it with the cooking juices to make it taste better. Warm up the banana leaves in a pan to make them easy to work with. Put some shredded pork in the middle of each leaf, fold them over, and use toothpicks to hold them together. Feel free to eat the Slow Cooker Hawaiian Kalua Pork by itself or with rice. Enjoy the tropical flavors!
