i think one of the reasons i've been enjoying twilight princess so much recently is that it allows me to live the unrealistic fantasy of making the world a little better, just a little. even as the weight of the world feels impossible to even understand.
that scene after you save colin and finally, finally it feels like you helped, like you achieved a victory against the darkness, and your reward is a child's smile and safety and belief in hope and their ability to work for a better world. made me cry.

pov: a new chapter just dropped
man the hero of time really had a rough life. dude was a tree orphan and fairyless, then it turns “oops you gotta save the world lol” and then he fails to save his adopted tree dad and fucking watches him die and he goes out into an unforgiving world at like fucking 8 years old. he does everything hes supposed to (including getting bullied by a fish) but shit still gets fucked up and he gets put into time stasis and gets completely robbed of the rest of his childhood as well as accidentally letting gannon go take over the damn world. so he goes and deals with all the shit he needs to, viewing unimaginable horrors along the way, all in the body of an adult and the mind of an 8 year old kid. and then at the very end he gets fucking traveled back in time to a timeline where none of this happened and no one realizes that he fucking saved the world (except in the place where he did save the world it all got fucking flooded anyways cause he wasnt there to help them again). so then he goes and tries to find his friend, gets trapped in a fucking time loop, witnesses some more unimaginable horrors, comes back and just says fuck it and lives on a farm or something and then dies. the end. bro saved like 2 worlds and got absolutely ass whooped by existence.
