We don’t always understand Maze’s actions, but she’s always protected Lucifer, no matter what. That protection grew to include Chloe, Trixie and Linda in season 2, but after Linda’s betrayal, Maze has done everything to break those bonds, or has she? Is the real Maze the one we see in the gifs above or the one we saw breaking Trixie’s heart or Lucifer’s by making him think he was doing good deeds in his sleep? Everything seem to point towards the second one, but what if it is all part of a long con? Yes, Maze was heartbroken learning about Amenadiel and Linda, but she waited and then she staged that double date in 3.15. We know Maze doesn’t want Lucifer to kill a human because “killing a human is Angel No-No's 101. Look at your brother... total power loss, and he only got murder adjacent.” (3.10) and killing Cain would be killing a human, no matter how old he is. We also know that Maze was really upset and angry with Lucifer for not letting her know about his plans to make mom and Amenadiel think he was going to Heaven with them, telling her he needed her upset. So what if this is Maze’s way of getting back at Lucifer while saving the day? Keeping him in the dark about her true intentions, just as he kept her in the dark about mom and Amenadiel, while keeping an eye on Cain, making sure Lucifer doesn’t kill him or that Cain doesn’t hurt Chloe or Trixie too much in the process? I rather believe that than Maze deliberately hurting her circle of friends.
