genuine question. is there a programming language that’s literally just C with a borrow checker. i really don’t want to learn what a monad is for low level memory safety
you and your friend are watching the mario movie, trying to see who can point out the most nintendo lore
call that a reference counting pointer
Rust be like: “yeha you can easily call C functions from Rust” and then tells you unsafe
C++ be like: Yeha you can easily call C++ and C functions it’s trivial and then be like extern "C" and don’t fucking use C++
C be like: Buddy we are the function and then crash you back to login
The bad part about getting such deep experience in my field is that it gets harder to share my joy. I'm having fun! I'm solving hard problems and feeling pride in my answers! But now it's hard to describe those wins when I want to celebrate with someone. Not impossible, but it's so much work.
That said, my blogging about programming has been wonderful for slowing down, editing, crafting a story for a wide audience at a large range of technical knowledge. It's the place I think I'm best equipped to communicate when I want to cheer with my people.
