the fic, or more the idea of the fic (i havent written much), was inspired by her messy divorce in the show! i was obsessed with moon knight when it first came out. i might have to rewatch it soon!

“I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Those words.

I’ve said them, typed them, handwritten them, scrambled and unscrambled them a thousand times.

But I’ve never formally said them. Even as badly as I’ve wanted to.

It’s her. It’s always been her. From the moment I saw her. The prettiest thing I’d ever seen. Made my heart stop. They never tell you about how much it almost hurts when love hits you.

Maker knows I can take a beating. This kind of hit is different. It’s as close to a mortal wound as you can feel without dying. Because once you’re struck by it your very survival is never the same. Life itself is different.

I see entire imagined lifetimes with you every time I close my eyes. Our life pledges to each other in front of just a few people we care about. Our own place together under a pink sky and scarlet suns I’m still searching for. Our child, a little one if it’s true that clones can make ‘em, a dark haired little boy that looks so much like Fives when he smirks that it makes us both cry. Our own personal peace. Our life. Ours.

No one, no conscripted service time, no dictated moral duty, no more genetic testing facilities or force wielding experts, can take it all away from us. Not anymore.

I thought I’d die before I’d ever say these words.

I thought I’d die without ever finding a reason I’d want to.

I thought I’d die for a cause not find one, a someone, worth living for.

I even thought that holding onto these words would be kinder than saying them only to die before fulfilling the promise I’d make you.

I’ll never know how long the rest of my life really is. But I know that no matter what it’ll never be enough time for me to spend with you.

So instead of wasting another double timed heart beat, I’m telling you now. The rest of my rapidly aging life is yours, no matter how much or how little time that is. With my experience, should be a lot.
