Whispers from the Past. <โscrollโ> โWe will be lost and found a thousand times along this cobbled road of us.โ ~ #Atticus โจ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐โจ A past time delight for Hubby and me is antiquing. We both love nostalgia, old books, and history. I personally have a weakness for small, ornate books. My collection is growing, and it spans from novels to 18th Century, pocket dictionaries. โข ๐โจ Two months ago, we stumbled upon this gem. The cover once bright red has since been kissed with age to a deep rouge. Beautiful embossed front cover, gold inlay on the binding reads, โThe History of Nero,โ while fountain pen stains adorn the back cover. When I laid eyes on this tiny book, I knew it was meant to be mine. โThis would be PERFECT for jewelry shoots,โ I thought as I ushed over the antique attendant to open the glass case. โข ๐ฅโจ It wasnโt until we got home and upon further inspection, an obituary was found pressed between the pages of 192 - 193. Ann Eliza Barnes, born June 5th, 1852 passed away on December 18th, 1901. The obituary used as a bookmark and undoubtedly as a reminder of someone special. The reverse side shares a snippet of an article containing cases of Cholera. Seen in the photo is a small piece of white ribbon, held in the bookโs pages, between 38 - 39. โข ๐ฐโจ Iโve been told before, that Iโm an old soul and this may allude to my love of history. Our wedding was inspired by post-WWII. The earrings are Italian silver with pearl and from 1940, which I wore on our wedding day. The watch is a Gruen Veri-Thin, 14k gold plated with either silver or platinum accents, and two tiny, white diamonds. I hope to one day get this repaired.
