I might get shot for this but why do most lotf ship fics really only focus on the unhealthy parts but in a “toxic yaoi” way. This goes for most of the ships really, Jalph, Jimon, Jager, Rogermon (and I have beef with the last one bc of fics)
Don’t get me wrong, I do see their dynamics, and it would be really interesting to delve into them, understand where they could come from and show just how unhealthy and dangerous these two characters are to themselves and each other, but it’s usually very hard to write and most writers (who are teens like me) really don’t want to see that, they just want, as I said, the unhealthy parts but sugarcoated and put in a “toxic yaoi” vase. It’s really sad bc I think that it ruins these characters and their dynamics.
As I said above, I have LOTS of beef with rogermon, as most fics I had seen (there are not much really) are literally just Roger abusing Simon….and that’s it. Which, don’t get me wrong, he would DEFINITELY do, but in the fics the abuse is usually very surface level and romanticised. All these ships have the same issue, very romanticised abuse.
NO ONE wants to delve into the more horror, religious and psychological topics of lotf and it makes me sad…..horror lotf fanfic writes rise.
What do you guys think??
