Lot 11, now featured as one of the best skateparks in the US sits at the heart of Miami in downtown, one block away from Government Center metro station. Apart this being such an amazing park for skating, third space as mentioned in my previous post, and in a great location, the story of how it came to be brings hope for future skate park creations to come.

“It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my life,” Katz says. “We went and met with every organization you can think of – every CRA, every local municipality, local charity group. And we had a very hard time getting them to want to support our project.” - Nick Katz

After 8 years, lots of meetings and money raised, they finally opened lot 11 in 2019. Being the first skate park I ever went to in 2022, I truly look up to Nick Katz, and it's great how he continues to support the community by pulling up to local events, hosting classes for kids and teens, and for the great efforts he put into this.
