A playground in the Golden Ward was alive with cheer and shouting.
A group of children had been here, playing at other games, but they had been fairly easily distracted by the appearance of a big, friendly ‘puppy’. Now they had ridden her about the playground like a pony, played tag and chase, and had just begun to let the novelty wear off, at least long enough to play in the sandbox and let a tired god rest for a bit. A mesmerized little girl had still planted herself next to Amaterasu, running her hands down the wolf’s fur as she nearly dozed.
She loved kids, but the unfailing energy of youth could be a little exhausting sometimes.
Curled on herself, she nonetheless picked up a sound of someone approaching, and lifted her head. Wolf? Wolf spirit? Unlike her, he wore a human form.
Not totally willing to get up yet, both for fear of disturbing her young audience, and on account of being tired and sore with the weight of old wounds that took offense to this much activity on short notice, she made some sweeping passes of her tail in greeting regardless.
There were a few wolves in this city! Each one different and fascinating.
