Found this photo of Jay Reatard in a box of random stuff in my basement last night It’s from the Lost Sounds show at the Old Miami in Detroit circa 2001. I shot this on a disposable 35mm film Kodak flash camera.
Jay’s lips are all bloody because he kept deliberately bashing his teeth on the mic.
They were great that night. The show was marred later in the even due to a long time shifty Detroit creep adding the Vibrators on the bill (who completely sucked) and didn’t bother to tell anyone that those decrepit yobs had a guarantee (that they were not worth) til the end of the night taking all the cash from the door.
The aforementioned long time shiftty creep then threw a glass at Alicja and then punched her in the back of the heaf when she demanded they get paid what they were expecting. They deserved to too as they were the original headliners and NO ONE was there to see the Vibrators (who also used Lost Sounds gear that night.)
