So in my endless infatuation with lostshipping, I've been thinking about the missed opportunities the writing team had this last season. Like I love Geo as next as the next person but they really shirk the guy's existence sometimes. Like at the end of s3, right, Ras comes around and absolutely wrecks shit at the monastery. Beats the hell out of Geo, steals shit, dips.
Then they don't do anything with it. Like I say this bc there's little notes at the beginning of s2 where Geo explains that he doesn't like to run into danger and won't be much use in a fight anyway. That could have been some pretty solid foreshadowing for this, and a good build up into a plot that could have really served to flesh geo out more: Give him an "I feel useless" arc. Yk, make him wonder why he's even at the monastery, what can he even contribute? Is there anything? Or is he just a loser allowed to live there? Should he leave? Would everyone's lives be easier if he left - really hurt the guy. And teach the lesson that someone doesn't have to be "useful" to be valuable, bc usefulness does NOT determine worth. Could have been solid. But ah, I get it they had more important stuff to work on and the finders are side characters. But that just means I get to write it.
Anyway, all that to say I'm chomping at the bit to write my oc into the world of DR specifically to write that ras fight, have him be the one that gets put through the paper shredder, takes the brunt of Ras' fury, loses badly bc he's totally alone and hasn't come in contact with Ras much, and then Geo gets to be "it's my fault it's my fault I couldn't do anything, I let this happen" and there's this whole big thing between him, Cole, and Eko, and there's a lot of work to reassure Geo that he is wanted there with them etc etc etc.
Sorry, favs, you're not allowed to be happy.
