Ooh I do love making recs. I've actually got a few fics bookmarked for my next rec post which I really need to draft because I haven't done one in ages.
But that's another matter.
Let's see, at the moment I am mostly reading DMBJ and Ateez. IDK how you feel about RPF so I'll do a rec for each and you can decide what you want to read.
For DMBJ I'd rec anything by @s1utspeare. She's such a skilled writer and her fic leaves me in awe every time.
For a specific fic rec I'd go with i wish that you would love me. This was the first fic of hers that I read and it resonated with me so hard I was legit speechless when I got to the end. There's a lot of great fics about asexuality out there but this was the first time I felt really and truly seen and understood.
I don't really have a favourite author in the Ateez fandom as there's so many good ones. Here's a few fics I've have particularly enjoyed over the past few months.

No one ever taught Keith how to fight, but he's learned a few things on the road. Mostly he fights dirty; he pulls a knife from his belt and launches himself at their attacker's back, wraps his legs around the other's thighs and twists, causing them both to tumble to the ground, and he uses his opponent's surprised disorientation to make sure he comes out on top, straddling the others hips. He quickly yanks the hoodie down and rips the scarf from around the other's face. He raises his knife with both hands, ready to defend himself if need be.
And then he lowers it, choking on a sob.
“Keith,” says the man beneath him, and he's both familiar and incomprehensibly alien. But the voice is the same. The eyes are the same. The way Keith's name sounds on his lips is the same. “Wait.”

I lost count of the number of hours I spent on this overall, but man, I am so happy with how it turned out, I really feel like I improved so much and learned a lot over the course of drawing it. Also, I think I kind of conquered my fear of backgrounds and shading, which is cool. Plus I always love seeing the process behind the creation of digital art, since it’s usually interesting and helpful to see what decisions go into reaching the final outcome (so...many...decisions...), and I learned a lot about taking an image from a concept in my head to a fully-realised piece of art.
Art is one of those things that for me has never been instinctive the way that it seems to be for other artists, but this has been a great experience and lesson to myself that working hard and spending time actively trying to learn more will help me improve, which I’m sure is the case for artists of any skill level.
