Eh
FANDOM MEME
wintersoldierfell is the friend who asks the question that she knows you want to be asked. This is one of the many things about her that I adore.
I'm doing the Fandom Meme for LOST!
the first character I first fell in love with: I will answer this question both regarding the carnal and the platonic. Boone. Ian Somerhalder tied up in the jungle I mean c'mon. OTOH, I had Locke love from the very beginning. His modern shaman schtick really resonated with me back then, and it still does. The reveal of his disability gets me every time. Don't tell him what he can't do.
the character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Ben. Ben is the perfect villain. He is lies, manipulation and betrayal made flesh, and somehow he becomes one of our babies. He's a terrible man, and he suffers tremendously, and every moment is just great.
the character everyone else loves that I don’t: Jack. There was a website I was once a commenter on that did hate-watch recaps of LOST and Jack was always getting ripped to shreds, but I think people mostly like him? He gets way too much screentime and Matthew Fox chews the scenery like he's literally starving on a deserted island and I just find it so tiresome. Amusingly his story is all about reconciling with his DADFEELS, which is something I relate to pretty strongly. I just find him to be such a sanctimonious, drunk, whiny, unconvincing baby about it.
the character I love that everyone else hates: KATE. Such Kate. Kate and Evangeline Lilly specifically. Kate was originally supposed to be the hero of this picture, and Jack was going to die in the pilot. Studio heads balked at the idea of killing off Dr. Whitey McManprotag and utterly predictable, uninspired decision-making prevailed. What's worse, Kate's storylines were dominated by a love triangle when her actual character and backstory was fucking complex and interesting and awesome (though a tiny bit too elaborate as the seasons wore on). I love Kate even though she was poorly served by the show. Fun fact which I can only partially verify: Evangeline Lilly was so annoyed at the way her character was dealt with in LOST that she was kind of "meh" on acting in general and even said in interviews that after LOST she would probably stop. They got her to do those ridiculous Hobbit movies on the condition that her character would not be the lady part of another tiresome love triangle and, whelp.
the character I used to love but don’t any longer: Hm. The Smoke Monster? Yeah. I'll go with the Smoke Monster. Every season we got a little more data on Smokey and it only made less and less sense as time went on. What started out as a cool idea turned into kind of a mess and is an emblem of the show's mythology being much less cohesive than it wants to pretend it is.
the character I would totally smooch: I already talked about Boone(Heaven is literally Ian Somerhalder on a Hawaiian island in 2004. You don't understand what the tropical sun does to eyes that blue until you've watched LOST), so Daniel Farraday! omg. I would like to distract him from math with my smooches, even though he'd keep doing the math in his head while I smooched him.
the character I’d want to be like: Hurley. His defining qualities are his honesty and his desire to be good. He succeeds, too. Winning the lottery wouldn't be so bad either. Close second is Danielle Rousseau, the mysterious and terrifying French Woman. Just because who wouldn't want to fill an island with traps and become Jungle Batman, a symbol of fear to all who would oppose you.
the character I’d slap: First season Jin? It's ninety fucking degrees, don't you dare make your wife button her top button you ass.
a pairing that I love: I won't choose one and you can't make me HURLEY AND LIBBY I CAN'T I CAN'T I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING. Also, Michael and Jin's friendship means a lot to me. ROSE AND BERNARD. CHARLES WIDMORE AND ELOISE. These are canon relationships, I have actually not waded into fandom shipping, I know not why. I suppose Jack and Sawyer need to just do it already. There, I shipped it.
a pairing that I despise: I'm not sure there is one! Ben with anyone because he should find no true joy in this life and only a long, arduous penance in the hereafter? Jack and Kate because fuck Jack? Yeah, let's say Jack and Kate. Fuck Jack.
End of Lost? More like TEAR MY STILL BEATEING HEART OUT OF MY CHEST I AM SOBBING
