i made a post a while back about shannon making a comment about locke being boone’s new bf and i thought gay representation?? it cant be?? but then it ended up being step sibling incest shit and i was v disappointed. but now in a flashback (spoilers for 3x14 and previous) it has shannon making another comment to boone saying “if you’d quit flirting with random guys then maybe we’d actually get on the plane.” i know we’ve seen him with a girl, but this is now twice shannon has hinted (i wouldnt even say hinted, its been made pretty clear) that boone is attracted to men. and im just sitting here like is this meant to be some form of representation?? two one line comments, two seasons apart that apparently arent meant to be taken seriously, hinting that a character (who is now dead and has been for ages) may be queer? like i honestly cannot tell whether these comments are just meant to be shannon having a go at boone and are not meant to be read seriously, or are meant to serve as some kind of queer representation bc if it is the latter then idk what your definition of representation is but that definitely isnt it. you cannot try to flesh out and convey the queer identity of a character in two lines, not even uttered by the potentially queer person themselves. and when boone was alive, he was a main character! if the writers wanted him to be queer all of this could have been fleshed out back in season one! but his queer identity is now being reduced to snide insults made by his step sister?? is he even queer?? no one bloody knows!
