I’ve tried to read In the Pines like at least three times now, I ended up skimming it and it still made me too sad to function. It’s very good, what I’ve read of it is excellent, but boy does it just hit hard.
oh man I really don’t blame you. Just about everyone who’s ever brought that one up with me has said they’ve cried over it and like #same honestly. I knew it was sad while writing it, but I don’t think I appreciated just how sad it really was until I was posting it. Writing it was cathartic at the time, but after posting it I think that one got to me a little more than I had planned. While I think some parts are among the best stuff I’ve ever written, I’m also like.....a little fragile over the whole thing lol. it definitely got under my skin, so I don’t blame you for skimming. But I’m glad you still found it good despite the tough subject matter, thank you so much!
