There wasn't a way of explaining how they felt about each other. It was known but it wasn't. Kind of like a skinny love. They acted on their emotions which often lead to them almost kissing but when they got too close one of them would pull away, nervous. Some days Lorcan would hope she wouldn't pull away, that they'd finally get their first kiss but other days he was glad because it meant it gave him a chance to make it memorable.
"C'mon Carmen!" he grabbed her hand and pulled her up the stairs. She let out a slight squeal trying to keep up with him, "it's not my fault my legs are shorter than yours! stop taking these huge steps, Lor!" The stairwell was filled with his laughter. He had always loved the way she'd make fun of herself for being short, it was cute to him in a way. "Besides if I go any faster I'll trip."
They stopped and Lorcan stepped down a step and turned his back to her, "get on. I'll carry you." "But Lor-" "not buts. C'mon." She sighed then jumped onto his back, her arms wrapping around his neck loosely so she didn't choke him. There was silence the rest of the way up. Whenever around each other they never really had to talk, just each other's company was enough to make the day better. Lorcan opened the door to the roof and walked out. Carmen reached back and shut it behind them without him even asking her too.
He gently set her down on her feet then stood up straight. Lorcan moved over to a box that sat on a table. She blinked glancing around. There were many plants and a place that people had set up so they could sit up there. She stopped and stared at him with a confused look. "Why'd you bring me here?" "You remember a year ago, how we were dancing then it got interrupted? How I promised we'd do it again some other time?" Carmen blinked tilting her head. She thought back trying to remember but had no luck. "Well.." he pulled a radio from the box and set it down turning it on.Lorcan walked over to her and held out his hand, "may I have this dance?" A blush came over her and she took his hand in hers, nodding.
Lorcan pulled her in close, his other hand setting on her lower back. 'One, two, three. One, two, three.' She repeated in her head trying not to trip over her own feet. "Relax, don't think about it." "How did you-" "know about it? I know you, Carmen." He smiled as he gazed into her's. She tilted her head, her lips parting as if she were going to speak but she couldn't find her voice. She was often in shock with how easy it was for him to finish her sentences or even know what she was thinking.
"And I.. want to share all my love with you. No one else will do." he sang along with the male's part softly. Carmen smiled, her eyes never leaving his. "And your eyes. They tell me how much you care. Oh yes you will always be.. My endless love." A raindrop had landed on her cheek but she was completely oblivious to it until the rain started to pour down. The radio cut out but the duo didn't notice. "Carmen can I ask you something?" "You just did." Lorcan chuckled and shook his head. "No, this.. this is a serious question."
He moved closer to her, his hands resting on her waist. Carmen blinked and tilted her head, "what is it?" "When I go to kiss you.. why do you pull away?" "My brother once told me that ancient lovers believed a kiss would unite their souls because the spirit was said to be carried in one's breath." She leaned in, her hand coming up and messing with the hair on the back of his head.
The duo moved in closer, the gap between their lips slowly closing in. Thunder scared her from her trance and she looked up, her mouth agape. Carmen pulled away and ran to the door leading to the stairs as Lorcan had continued leaning in and kissed the air. He stood there for a moment staring at her with an unamused look then ran after her into the stairwell.
As if hypnotized by habit We have decided to live the routine Of keeping on sleeping in the same bed But the truth is that we are scared And without realising, we are competing To see who says the last word And we do not want to be honest And accept that nothing is left any longer That the dream of waking up Together every morning no longer exists And that the days are leaving us Having not looked at each others face In order to be able to pretend As if nothing is happening to us But it is not true The flame has gone out now The fire that used to burn The magic that used to envelop us has gone Our love has ended Just as if it was nothing And I used to love you so much. The flame has gone out now There are no longer even ashes. Our fire is extinguished. Everything is over now Everything is over now We do not have conversations now Nor play at talking to each other like children Nor laugh. We do not even embrace each other now There is no ‘good day’ Not even out of politeness We do not touch each other now Nor dream of getting old together Nor think about (things of) the future. It is as if we were living unhappily
And I want to tell you That I do not want to live this lie And that I deserve a true love Let's end the agony Of an uncomfortable silence every day. This is not your fault Nor mine either. What is the use of trying it? It would not work. Although we are together You and me no longer make good company for each other. Tell me when we last celebrated Christmas together In love, excited, passionate. Even at night Each of us sleeps on their side of the bed. How sad that the flame has gone out for us.
