Its a rough night, storm is coming and its beginning to rain. Looks to be pretty bad too you make your way home, in your path is a wounded person. They aren't awake but from closer inspection you see a wedding ring..upon further inspection noted from whatever area you are in you see they are a guard but also within their jacket is a founded childs drawing...what do you do?
Rain was already starting to drip down her back as the little mixed scaled Auri woman walked down the street. A few street lamps had been blown out so the street was cast in partial darkness, lit now and then by a flash of lightening. Her senses were always alert so the body nearby didnât escape her notice. Pausing, she glanced around, sticking to a shadowy part of the street as she made sure she was alone. Not seeing or hearing anyone, she moved in closer: a guard. Scoffing lightly, theyâd never done her any favors, she pulled the ring from his finger, giving it a little test to check how much gold it was, worth a few gil at least. She put it into her pocket and then felt around in his, finding a gil purse and... a folded piece of paper. Opening it, she squinted in the dim lighting, rain drops smearing some of the sketchy pencil marks. âShit...â Looking down at the man, she sneered, shoving the picture into his pocket and again looking around. The guards had never been helpful to her, always a pain, and sheâd probably left orphans and single parent children in her wake as her job wasnât one for mercy, however, her marks never carried mementos. It was one thing to knowingly make a widow, another to consciously take a father from a child and despite what she would have anyone believe, she didnât necessarily want to be cruel.Â
Cursing again, she checked for a pulse, finding it weak but still there, she grabbed him by the arm and draped it over her shoulders, the raining coming down a little harder now so her hair was dripping wet, âYou have no idea how luck you just got.â She grunted as she drug his dead weight toward a door to a small house, dropping him against the door and then hammering on it till she heard movement inside. With a well practiced leap, she grabbed the ledge of the window seal and balanced on top of it, just near the door but no one would look up, her dark clothes keeping her hidden as the door opened and an elderly man peeked out just before a slightly younger man with a sword opened it further, the guard toppling backward, âBy the Gods!â The man exclaimed, turning to his father, âWake Mother, heâll need tending.â As the young man pulled the unconscious guard into the house, the elderly man peered out into the stormy night, looking for whom ever had left the guard there. Finding no one, he sighed and simply shut the door.
Suzi dropped down from the window and glanced at the door, pulling the wedding ring from her pocket, âAt least Iâll get a little gil out of it.â Sneering at her own weakness, she hurried down the street, dipping into an alley and disappearing into the dark, rainy night.
