Lori pushed against the train, her shoulder lowered into it as her feet burned against the rails. “Aaaaargh,” she grunted pushing with full might, “guys I can’t... I can’t...”
“You’ve got this Supergirl,” Wally encouraged over the comms, “you’ve got this, we believe in you.” He was busy, his fists connected with the drones one by one. Moving so fast that gravity didn’t have a chance to bring him back to the ground as he kept moving.
“You can do this, Lori,” M’Gann instructed, “you have to, there’s no one else who can. Kara’s off-world helping the Legion and Conner’s with Clark and the Teen Titans.”
Roy Harper’s arrows hit their marks targeting the terrorists inside the train, “you got this, c’mon now, you can do this, we believe in you.” He looked over his shoulder as Thea’s arrows crossed paths with his. There was a sudden jerk and the two were thrown forward losing their bows in the process.
Lori’s back had been pushed well into the front car, smoke billowed from her feet and she looked down at the fall that would’ve been. She swallowed hard and closed her eyes. Her job wasn’t done yet, she turned around and pushed, one step then the other. “You’ve got this kid,” Maggie’s voice now over comms, “come back a few blocks. I’ve got Harbor PD standing by, and a squad of happy NCPD officers ready to take those terrorists.”
“You got it baby Danvers.”
The train was moving backward, rolling along the rails. The night was cold, bitterly so, but it didn’t bother her. She had a job to do, a name to uphold and a legacy to forge. Her red cape moved with the wind, black hair whipped back as she pushed the train.
Roy and Thea had managed themselves back to their feet and hauled the terrorists into one car. “Good work, Supergirl.” Thea knew what praise meant to a new hero. “Pizza party back at the training center, guys.”
“Oh, can we get it with bacon?” Wally asked over comms, “actually, I’ll get it from Coast City.”
“I’ll help you, heaven knows that between you and Lori we’ll need at least ten dozen,” M’Gann added.
Lori chuckled, “hey now, pushing trains is a real calorie burner.”
“As if you need to worry about calories,” Thea quipped.
