Time lords here are wearing black and white robes that are reminiscent of the robes the cia wear in the war games

The tabard/collar bit is stiffer and bigger though and more circular

We see linear gallifreyan on the screen with the picture of the doctor, i think this might be the first instance of gallifreyan writing we see

The room they are in is grey and has a pretty featureless black desk and a screen with four lights(?) and a golden frame taking up most of one wall, the wall opposite that seems to be made out of glass bricks

The time lords are monitoring the doctors activities from gallifrey

The master steals a report on a weapon from their archives

Is this their weapon or someone else’s, if it’s someone else’s then they keep tabs on other civilizations

If the master can steal it then it seems they only have one copy, and possibly shoddy security, at least for someone who knows the time lords

So I know this not actually romana, but i’m going to continue these notes with the assumption that what this romana is experiencing is similar to what the real one is

Seems that though being trapped in the patrix romana is still able to like exist as a person, she has to do her filing or whatever rassilon is making her do, but it is more just a job she is doing than something she is forced to do through mental control or anything, this is really just a long winded way of saying being in the matrix seems to be the same as being in any other prison

Ollistra is able to visit romana in the matrix

And since we later see that rasmus and leela can too, this is just a thing people can do, not something related to ollistra being a matrix ghost

Though this is interesting in comparison with the deadly assassin because being inside the matrix there seems to be both something entirely mental and sort of inherently dangerous, where as later stories have it be a physical space you can enter as well and not particularly more dangerous than a similar situation out in the ‘real’ world

Romana seems to have access to everything in the matrix, including new reports

‘What in the other’s name’ → expression

Rassilon now has the great key, no longer trusts someone else to keep watch over it

Implication that the key is needed to properly get into the matrix

Okay so it is needed to enter the matrix without being traced

There is chess on gallifrey

Pieces are silver and red → is this generally how it works or just this set

I do wonder what differences there are between gallifreyan chess and human chess (and if there is some connection between the two)

Queen is known as the rassilon piece

There are also rook and pawns

The chess set rassilon is using here was a gift from livia when he took over from her as president, i am curious as to if it is a tradition to give your successor some kind of gift, or if she did that because he’s rassilon

There is an entrance to the matrix on the lower levels of the cloisters, the usual entrances to the matrix are in the citadel though

Lower level entrance is outside of the citadel so it is harder to track

Some time lords view the cloisters as hell

Cloister wraiths → guardians of the matrix, will view people entering as a threat

A lot about the matrix has been updated since pandora apparently

Sliders sense people through vision and hearing → interesting considering that they are inside the matrix and the matrix can sense people entering it

Traveling through matrix works on intention

Bowship → gallifreyan game, seems to be old, strategy game

Matrix can conjure projections of people

Conjures these as a defense to stop people going further into the matrix

Locations in the matrix can be made to look like pretty much anything

Cloister wars → something involving daleks and cybermen, my guess would be that they were trying to steal information from the matrix, they failed at whatever their goal was though

Eris still has some of himself left → those more recently put into the matrix less a part of it, have more individuality?

I wonder how the matrix determines who gets chosen as a slider and who just stays in the matrix

Ollistra can control the sliders because she is a part of the matrix

It is possible to create a matrix projection who doesn’t know that they are a matrix projection
