🎶 The day is cold, and snowy, and Levin did love children and wintry fun - so when he sees someone trying to make a snowman, well. "Want a hand with that?"
WhenGenny awoke, the frigid air seeping from underneath inn windows hadan unusual quality about it. The air smelled sharp, and even throughher many layers of blankets the little healer could feel the coldseeping in. With a shiver she rolled out of bed and padded over tothe window, intent on checking to see if it was completely closed.
Shecompletely forgot her plans when she saw the silent white blanketthat covered the village square. “Oh, it's beautiful!” shewhispered, breath fogging the glass panes. Throwing on her warmestclothes she rushed out the door and down the stairs, tumbling outinto the powdery drifts of the first winter snow.
Havinggrown up on a tropical island, Genny had never really seen snowbefore. Sure, she'd seen a few flurries on her journey north, butnothing that had stuck, much less piled up into drifts that remindedher of desert dunes. With a giggle, Genny fell face first into a pileof snow, popping upright when the cold got to be too much. Shewondered what else she could do with the snow... she'd read ofcustoms where children made games of snow... snow-dragons and, ohyes, snowmen!
Hummingwith delight, Genny scooped up a handful of snow, pressing it into aball. It was slightly lumpy, but looked like it would hold... sheadded more snow and frowned when the whole ball crumbled apart.
Maybethere was an art to this after all.
Shespent several minutes trying various ways of getting the snow to staypacked, trying to contain her efforts to one area so as not to ruinthe seamless blanket with her failed attempts. It was not going well.
Justwhen she was about to try for a final time and then give up, a shadowpassed over her last attempt.
Genny'shead shot up at the stranger's voice, cheeks dusted rose from thecold and embarrassment. “Yes, please. I'd never made a snowmanbefore, and thought this would be an easy task... apparently not.”
