[ β ]γ €.γ €what does βhomeβ mean to them ?
[[EDITOR'S NOTES]]
Before her embrace "home" was just the house you're forced to sleep at. It was the place your mama will never return to and the place your papa would rather not be. It was where your baby sister was and also your food and god I hope the nanny doesn't find where I stashed my speed for the weekend...
After she died, home became something more - It was the gang of thinbloods she began to accumulate. It was the responsibility and joy of showing these baby bats the ropes so that they wouldn't have to stumble around back allies and sketchy by-the-hour motel beds like she did. It was the community she was growing without even realizing it. Home became synonymous with family.
But then the Snotbloods died. All of them (pretty much) and she was left alone again without home or family or anything. Home was something she couldn't have. It was a privilege of the living and the powerful dead, but not her... until she felt the thick crimson of Maria Majura's vitae slide down her throat and fill her up.
That was home now. Maria was home. Maria, who sensed BJ's ache for family, used this to her advantage and 'adopted' the girl now called Summer Majura. A regression happened in Beetlejuice's heart. Old wounds held closed with hand-stitched sutures were ripped open and filled.
Summer had a mother again. She had Two! AND SISTERS!
Maria guaranteed that her daughter, even without the bond, would stay forever (?) loyal to her.
Now if you were to ASK Beetlejuice, she'd tell you that her home was Vancouver. The city raised her. It's both familiar and strange. Old and New. Brick and Glass. And very very wet. No matter where she is in the world, Beetlejuice will miss the Vancouver rain. "It just FEELS different, you know?" she would say. And then she would gush about Gastown autumns and the cherry blossoms in the spring, and how the daytime-nightmares are always a little worse when she can't hear the Fraser River roaring over city sounds.
