The pair of fashion illustrations for Lorath.

One of the things I'm going to do is post the full-body pairs from each place. I might struggle to come up with things to say about each of them, but I'll try my best to say something new about my design choices. The majority of the figures are unrelated to each other, but they will most likely be placed close-ish together in order to fit on the dastardly 4:5.

These two are supposed to be the almost-every-day Lorathi citizen. Regular couple, regular day.

We start in Lorath.

I based it pretty heavily on the Viking Age, but with lots of fantasy to separate it out as its own thing. In ASOIAF Lorath is brushed off pretty quickly for not having much sway in world politics or in resources. I extrapolated out from that idea and decided they lack gold and gems and instead use a lot of wool, bone, and wood for clothing, accessories and tools. They don't trade much with other places, but are instead able to produce enough of their own goods to comfortably live in their climate and within their resources. Some of the richer citizens have small pearl accessories.

I do love rereading bc it reminds me of details I missed the first time.

Lorath wrote to people and exchanged letters with the abbot of Orbei Monastery.

Maybe I can use this as the reason why Nico was pointed to Lorath in the first place? Maybe Nico went to the Monastery first to look for information and someone mentioned the hermit with esoteric knowledge.
