Lorain Harbor West Breakwater Lighthouse (1917) ARLHS USA-453 / USCG 7-4335 (Station established 1909) (Active) Focal plane 58 ft. (17.5 m) Red flash every 5 seconds. Located in Lorain, Ohio on the south shore of Lake Erie. Height 51 ft. (15.5 m) Square tower attached to a 2.5 story concrete keepers dwelling with steel reinforcing, painted white with red roof and trim. Original 4th order Fresnel lens is on display at the Lorain Port Authority ferry terminal at Black River Landing. Owned by the Port of Lorain Foundation and managed by the Lorain Lighthouse Foundation. Site and tower closed. The west breakwater does not connect to shore. Cruises are offered by the port authority and tours are offered by the Lorain Lighthouse Foundation. There are distant views from several of the fishing piers. Located at the end of Lorain Harbor west breakwater at the mouth of the Black River in Lorain, Ohio USA. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
