Book Haul July 12, 2026
Went to the larger Barens & Nobles kind of in my area on the hunt for books and cards. I go so rarely I tend to pick up a few.
Around the Sun & Beneath the Moon are definitely books I'll be reading after I (somehow magically) finish the Ancient Greece Illustrated book. Oddly the Sun book is very much retelling and explaining myths where Beneath the Moon is much more encyclopedia like. The art work in both is absolutely stunning.
These books also just kinda popped out at me like Aesop's Fables; but after I thought I had already picked all the stuff I wanted whoops.
As for the language books the store had a grand total of two greek ones >:). I like the Greek one because it is specifically designed to be non-linear meaning I can jump around in the book all I want.
The Japanese one looks extremely interesting, but also seems like advanced beginner / intermediate, so I'll focus on Japanese The Manga Way first, the benefit of the new book is it has vocab banks and exercises which my current one doesn't (still think current is The best book for Japanese grammar.)
I also grabbed two Oracle Decks
Yōkai Oracle, and "Biblical Accurate Angles" one... which can supplement my demon one lol. Both with good guides and beautiful art.
(I also always seem to end up adding one book I want to my amazon list cuz it's much cheaper but then feel too guilty to order them when I get home).
I learned the hard way Song of Achilles is a modern fiction novel not myths (it was wrapped in plastic so couldn't browse), its okay I was able to return it— it was the most expensive thing in the haul.
