Steve visits Peggy and one of the nurses stops him and says: “Listen... she’s not gonna last the night. Only immediate family is supposed to know this, so you didn’t hear it from me.”
Steve accepts the news and walks into Peggy’s room. He starts messing with her record player in the corner. Peggy wakes up. “St... Steve? It’s been... so long.”
Steve bites his lip, hard. Turns around to smile at her.
“What’s wrong?”
“I forgot our date.” Steve whispers brokenly and the record player starts a song.
"Oh, it’s okay. You’re alive...”
Steve sobs softly and walks to her bed. “Can... would you... do me the honor?”
She manages to lift herself enough so Steve can carry her the rest of the way. Because Steve still isn’t sure how to dance they just sway. The next morning the nurse finds her not sleeping, and not awake either. The record player is still on, and the widow is open. The other nurses don’t recall Steve leaving, and one of the nurses recalls peaking in around two to see Steve and Peggy still dancing.
