As the ball continued, the amount of drunk Ru became was more obvious. Jasper trying to switch her wine for water didn't work, not when pretty noble ladies and men and their human blood slaves kept feeding her blood and giving hervwine.
She was dancing between partners in a dizzying fashion. Cheeks flushed, body hot. Hands, mouths all over her. Darius did not accompany her this night and so Jas was tasked, as always, to protect her.
More and more she allowed the fangs to pierce her, to feed. She's so aroused and drunk and suddenly being whisked away. Her first sober thought then broke through the haze.
"Oh no-"
Yet she's weak, both from blood loss and wine.
"Please...I..."
"I won't tell your husband." The noble says.
"And you won't leave alive." Another voice calls out.
An arm encases Ru and the noble woman gives the tiniest of gasps.
Ru settles back into whoever is protecting her and feels the happy buzz fade. She had almost let herself go too far. In wanting to distract herself she indulged too much. Oh Gods bless her.
The person simply regards Ru as the head Butler watches from afar, then leaves. For now. Of course a ball she attended and hosted this would happen. People were bold when her husband was not near. Stil she turns to look behind, at her savior.

@mirajane-midorinome Samara sighed and tightened the scarf that hid her hair and the pitch black horns that curled out from her skull. She had wanted to get out and start travelling, exploring the world she had been brought into. Em hadn't wanted her to travel alone, still worrying about her after her death and revival. It took hours of conversation and reassurances, along with the support of a certain psychic Samara called sister, before her father finally caved. Thank the gods for Katherine. However, now that she was all alone in a big city, Samara was forced to admit to herself that she had no idea what to do. This was so different from when she and Em travelled from village to village helping people. Finding a bench in nearby park, Samara settled down and watched the people go by. Should she try and approach someone and make a friend? But how to approach a total stranger? Damn... Being dead for over a thousand years did nothing for her people skills. She was so caught up in her own thoughts, that Samara almost didn't notice when another young woman sat down next to her.
Lucas was just a few hundred meters from Mayohiga at a shooting range he had set up some time ago. The day was cloudy and overcast, though the barometer he had at home predicted rainfall for today. He was doing a usual bi weekly Range day. So he could stay sharp with his Marksmanship on just about all of his infantry weapons. Currently he had M6D out while his other weapons remained laid out neatly on a tarp from smallest to largest. The ODST had his M6D, M6C/SOCOM, M7S, MA5B, M392 DMR, BR55, M90 CAWS, and SRS99 AM with him. He had set up a few dozen Steel targets of varying sizes at distances ranging from 20 to 960 meters. He brought the warthog out to not only transport the weapons and ammo but also the targets he was shooting at. Lucas took aim and place a series of three shots. Each bullet impacted the steel target and made it ring when the HE filling detonated. His first grouping was a tight overlapping triangle at the 20 meter target. He shifted his aim and made another A similar grouping at the 30 meter mark, He checked his results by observing the targets with his field Binoculars. He aimed and placed a group of three rounds at the 40 meter mark at the center of the of target, slightly less over lapping than the prior groups. He reloaded and took aim at the 50 meter target, when he checked the target after firing his group of three rounds he noted that it was still a tight grouping dead center. He jumped, aimed and fired at the furthest target his pistol could reliably hit, the 100 meter target. He pulled up his Binoculars to confirm his grouping.Â
âHuh just a quarter inch separating each shot. Good I still have it.â He said to no one in particular, it was more of him speaking to himself. Nerveless he was happy that he still had that exceptional marksmanship with the pistol. The same marksmanship that had won him the Gold badge in the Division Pistol shooter competition 3 years back and the sliver badge the following year, as well as the pistol sharpshooter qualification badge both during Marine boot camp and ODST boot camp. As he clicked the safety on his sidearm on and prepared to pick up the next weapon in line he thought back to the astonished looks his friends had nearly 22 years ago when he made the sharpshooter qualification in basic. As he took the M6C/SOCOM and started placing his shots groups downrange, his mind kept going back to the Division competition, it was one of the last great happy memories he had with his squad before Reach Fell. Before his unwillingness to back down from their mission got the his squad, his friends, all killed. Leaving him to be to sole survivor of their mission....
Lucas lowered the binoculars after confirming the grouping was tight at the 80 meter mark. He looked down to the ground as he thought back to it, Brass had said he was a Hero, that his efforts saved countless lives on other colony worlds. The Staff Sergeant sure as hadnât felt like a hero, then and now. Others had called him a hero, all he saw when he looked in the mirror was a broken man who had lost all of his buddies. Lucas wondered what his deceased squadmates would say to him if they could talk to him right now? Would they condemn him for pushing on instead of calling for reinforcements? For being reckless at the end on the way out after competing the objective thus getting Blackburn and Marcus killed? Would they tell him that he did what he had to do? Lucas didnât know the answer and he likely believed he never will, . Â He barely registered the fact that rain started to fall, it was not a torrential downpour but it was coming down at a fairly decent rate as he sat there in his own thoughts brooding.Â
In a attempt to keep himself from sinking any further in his dark thoughts and self-loathing Lucas picked up His M7S, toggled the scope and started placing groups of six rounds on another set of targets downrange. Not only was he shooting for accuracy, he was also practicing how quick he could switch targets aim and shoot. One could think Lucas was shooting on full automatic from the speed he fired his rounds. However in actuality, though he did have the weapon set to automatic, he wasnât holding the trigger down long enough to fire more then one bullet per trigger pull. This very fast semi-auto style trigger control made his shots more accurate than it would be had he done it on full auto.Â
Once The Staff Sergeant had finished with his last grouping of shots at the 50 meter distant target and confirmed that the shot placement was acceptable within his own self-assigned standards. He clicked the safety on the smg and picked up his MA5B. Little did Lucas know, Yukari was about to pay him a visit.Â
October 23, 2552, 17:32:05, 5:32 pm Local time. Medium Earth Orbit Over Kyoto, Japan.Â
Lucas Finished suiting up in the barracks and placed his combat helmet on. He did a last minute systems check and confirmed all systems were green. He grabbed a M7S and put on his armored back pack. As he walked out into the deployment bay the drop klaxon blared. âYou know the Music, Time to dance.â he spoke  looked to his squad and nodded as they grabbed weapons off the racks and climbed into their pods. He threaded a few flashbang and fragmentation grenades on his bandolier, the vast majority of the gear he had was already packed into his drop pod. With the grenades secured he looked around and did a final check on his squad.Â
As he walked past each pod, the ODST inside gave him a thumbs up before the pod door closed. The Staff Sergeant came to the last pod in the corridor, the only one that didnât have a occupant, his pod. He climbed inside and placed his M7S into a internal Weapons rack. A moment later his pod door closed and began to turn around. Â Just as the pod finished turning around the video panel on the right side of the view port came to life. He saw the face of his company commander and long time friend Kelly Sanders. The pod started going down slope as the left video screen came to life, showing Jason Andrews, another long time member of Bravo company. Lucas was happy to see his old friend back in into the fight, though he winced a bit to see that Andrews left eye was replaced with a cybernetic prosthetic.Â
The pod came to a standstill with a small jolt, the Staff Sergeant switched over to the Company Com Channel to listen in for any last minute Intel reports. He heard Kelly speaking on the line. âLatest Intel reports show that the convoy force is surrounded and has been pinned downed by a division of Covenant Infantry with heavy armor support at the UkyĹ Ward Office. Marines of the 506th Division tried to open a escape corridor for the Convoy team but were repulsed with heavy casualties by Covenant forces and heavy armor by Hanazono University. The 90th armor division was making their way to the convoy force but they are currently being tied up by two Scarabs near KyĹtominami Hospital. The Convoy team has reported that they are getting low on ammo and theyâve sustained heavy causalities. Those pinned down troopers wonât be able to hold out much longer. But with those Covenant ships over the city, Weâre dropping in from higher then normal altitude.â  she said with a bit of grimness to her voice. They were dropping into hell and they knew it, but given that a fair number of the ODSTâs of bravo company were replacements for the comrades that fell during the fall of Reach.Â
Lucas activated the com line and gave a message to all the ODSTâs of Bravo company. âOur job is to drop in from mid orbit, rescue the survivors of the convoy. Secure the package they were transporting. Punch a hole through the entrapping Covenant force and get that package to a UNSC base in Nagasaki. We are dropping into Hell Troopers time to grow a pair.â he spoke with all the experience that 21 years of service gave him. He looked out the view port and saw the pods on the other side coming to a restÂ
He looked down and got a good look at Japan, his jaw clenched as he saw just how hard the protectorate was hit by the Covenant. Past the clouds of derbies of destroyed covenant and UNSC vessels hanging around from the prior space battle. He could see the scattering burning husks of three Stalwart-class Light Frigates in lower orbit around the Kyoto orbital tether. It was all that was left of the prior attempt HIGHCOM Â made to relieve the convoy team. He could see fighting occurring in mainland China and all over Japan. He could see from his position in mid orbit the glow of the glassed portions of landscape through the boiling black clouds. A black typhoon was forming over the Iwate Prefecture, the marine grimly knowing all too well what the fate of the Prefecture and its inhabitants was.Â
He looked over and saw that Tokyo was were the fighting was at the worst. It looked like the battle of Armageddon was happening in Tokyo. Â Lucas looked directly down, activated the enhance zoom feed of his Podâs cameras and saw three tiny specs hovering above Kyoto, just a mere 30 kilometers from zone Bravo company was dropping into.Â
He looked back up to the underside of the ship and saw the rapid flashes as the pods on the far side of the deployment bays were being launched. His pod shook and echoed the thumps of each of the SOEIVâs that were launched. He saw the pods drop a few meters then the rockets fired, propelling them down towards the ground at great sped. He could feel the vibrations getting stronger and stronger as the pods on his side of the bay were being deployed. Until finally he heard the 4 beep countdown. The pod shook as it was released from the tube, three seconds later it jolted as the rocket descent booster fired. Though even with the rocket assisted descent, it would take a bit of a time to reach the surface.Â
He maneuvered his pod a slight bit with the flight controls so he was with his squad. The Staff Sergeant switched over to the platoon com in time to hear come to life. â Sarge, is it me or is something going on by Chino? Just what the hell is going on over there? You guys see this too right?â said corporal Mitchel Anderson, He was then joined by another, Private Beniele Tarkov, â Your seeing this right? What the hell is going on over there? They didnât say anything about massive counter offenses occurring in the Nagano Prefecture, isnât that near Suwa? Can someone tell me what the hell Iâm seeing here? â he said in disbelief.Â
It wasnât long before the company commander herself came onto the line. â Yeah I see it too. From Tact Com chatter, Ground forces in the area there are Observing something engaging the Covenant. I canât make sense of most of these reports. Mostly because the buggers canât say a damn word straight in English, What they do manage to squeak out is something about legends being true. some crap like that. Iâm Notifying command of this Development. But it raises the question of whatâs happening over there and whoâs fighting because reports are saying that whoever it is over there isnât part any known UNSC force.â Mitchel came back onto the line, âNot any known UNSC force? is it Innies? Or some ONI Project?â he said with confusion in his voice.
There was about 20 seconds of silence before Sanders came back onto the com channel. â We got a channel to a Tactical Spy sat thatâs near thereâŚJust what the hell am I looking at?â The tone of her voice filled Lucas with concern. The right video panel switched from the face of the captain to live feed from a spy satellite in low orbit near the area. There was a Covenant Frigate and a Assault Carrier near the location. Many small blueish white explosions punctuated the skies, signifying Covenant air vehicles being destroyed. Faint bolts of energy, many of which were different colored seemed to fly about every which way. Something that looked like laser fire was coming from the ground and striking the ships, the lasers impacted harmlessly on their energy shields. Some very large explosions occurred on the ground that were indicative of the destruction of scarab walkers. Without warning a large explosion occurred and the Covenant Frigate was crashing down, flames roaring along the sides of the ship. The camera focuses on the now crashed frigate, before it zoomed out to see the Carrier now moving towards the area where the Frigate was shot down. Lateral lines of plasma building up along on its side, Pin Point laser fire shooting down unseen fliers.
Lucas Noticed several large but oddly colored explosions on the ground, indicating heavy fight was in progress. As the pod continued its descent the Marine saw the Carrier fire two plasma torpedoes into the valley. The camera lens flared as the torpedoâs impact white washed the area temporarily. When the video balanced the image after three seconds. A towering pillar of smoke rose from the valley, it and the mountain sides facing it were glowing bright yellow. The ground was a molten hellish flowing landscape of glass. The camera lingered on the area before the satellite feed on the video screen cut out.
Lucas shook his head side to side slightly before he activated the com line. âWhoever that was over that way. Those unlucky son of bitches are dead now.â he spoke with a bit of grimness to his voice on the company channel before switching back to the platoon frequency. He looked out at the view port at the fighting that was going on elsewhere in the country. He knew it was intense near Tokyo but he didnât realize how intense until he was further down. He could see the silhouettes of 12 Covenant and 20 UNSC ships duking it out in the lower Atmosphere and Stratosphere. He slammed eyes shut after seeing a energy projector scythe a Destroyer.Â
He looked down and zoomed in on the city itself he could see the smoke and faintly see the fighting going on in the wards. The heaviest portions of the fighting were located by the space elevator, the landing zone, and the area around KyĹtominami Hospital. It was the last one where he could see the faint movements of Scarab Walkers fighting it out with the 90th armor division. As the pod fell through the stratosphere reentry plasma started to build up on the exterior of the pod. The air got hot, uncomfortably so even with his combat suit on. After three minutes of heat the plasma dispersed as he was half way through the stratosphere. Lucas saw other pods adjust their heading aiming towards the ward office.
Lucasâs pod was passing through a large pillar of smoke in the lower stratosphere when a large bolt of Lightning arced across the sky near the pods. It was close enough that entire inside was momentarily awash in harsh white light. âŃйНŃдОк!â The marine cursed as he tried to blink away the spots in his vision. The shock wave created violently shook his pod and knocked it off course. Lucas corrected his heading to land his pod right where the pinned down ground team was. He used the zoom on his pods cameraâs to make note of the heavy fighting near the hospital. Where the package the convoy team was escorting was located, which was in the center of a makeshift barricade of ruined vehicles. He was tagging the locations of priority targets both infantry and armor that would need to be taken out first when a message appeared on the E-band from Major Rolando Harkins, âWeâre being Overrun! Spec ops have gotten into the Buildings. We can not hold positions.â the Major said in a panic, The sounds of a firefight could be heard over the line.Â
Kelly hoped onto the tactical ground channel, â âHold out for as long as you can Major, Weâll be hitting the ground in under thirty.â she said in a attempt to reassure the Major. The drogue chute deployed and the pod bled off a good deal of its speed. At 2000 ft mark on the altimeter static washed over the display and the klaxon of the radiation alarm sounded. Lucas looked down and saw a almost blinding ball of light at the location of container holding the package. â First platoon, Change course change course. Reynolds get out of there!â Lieutenant Jimmy Amberose said in a panic over the platoon frequency.Â
âWhat the hell is Tha-â Lucas began to say, unaware that he was still transmitting. However he was cut off as a purple white light filled the interior of the pod and it began to shake very violently. He grabbed the handles on the inside of his pod and yelled in terror at what was going on. His legs felt like wet concrete, his vision was fading to black despite his best efforts, breathing was difficult and then he simply passed out from the G-forces.
Location Unknown, Date Unknown, Time Unknown.
Lucas slowly came to with a groan. He sluggishly looked around his pod and found it to be a mess. One of the panels was smashed, the other was barely working. He couldnât see outside of his pod either through the view port which was covered in spider fissure cracks and covered in some kind of black soot. He looked at the display panel and saw all the error messages, He tried to contact the other members of his company but couldnât get anything on any of the channels. âJust my fucking luck, just what the fuck happened?â he quietly grumbled to himself as he went to arm the explosive bolts on his pod door. However right after he armed the third explosive bolt did his experimental motion tracker system reboot and show movement outside. He paused and grabbed his M7S off of one of the internal Weapons racks and he set the timers on the flashbangs to .2 seconds. As a after though, he polarized the visor of his helmet.Â
Then he punched the button to arm the fourth and final explosive bolt that would blow off the drop pod door. After a thunk and a hiss the pod door blew off. He looked out, weapon half raised due to lingering, though rapidly fading disorientation, and saw a sight that left him confused. He saw the pod door embedded in a wall and two women. The woman to his left had long blonde hair and rather vivid purple eyes, almost glowing. The woman to his right also had blonde hair bit she had yellow/gold colored eyes and nine fox tails. That there made the marine take pause for he had never seen such a thing before. He looked down slightly and saw the ruined, splintered remains of a wooden table and some sort of dinner. He glanced back up at the two women and noticed that they were glancing back and forth between the wall where his pod door was embedded and him. The look on the womenâs faces told Lucas that they were in a state of shock.Â
Aria was wondering the docks looking at all the ships- big and small- with awe. Many were finely crafted, others lacked in craftsmanship but did have their own charm.
She walked up to one ship, crossed her arms over her chest and stared at it before walking aboard the vessel. She wondered around the ship, invisibility potions on hand incase she needed to hid from sight.
She didnât want to get caught wondering the ship, last time she had done that - it hadnât ended well. One inside and off the main deck, she took out her art journal and began to sketch the ship and map the hallways and floors.
By the time she got to the âbasementâ of the ship, she only had three close calls of getting caught- but got away without causing a commotion. She climbed over some boxes and settled in a small corner. After getting comfortable, she began to sketch more in her book, doing designs for different types of ships. Some unique, others basic, and some caught inbetween.
With a rub of her eyes, she decided to take a quick nap before leaving the ship. ______
She jumped awake and looked around. Once she realized where she was aware of where she was, she settled back down. With a small stretch, she crawled out of her hiding spot and navigated to the top deck, still avoiding the people in the halls.
She was greeted with a bright sun and open waters. She groaned inwardly, she was probably far away from land. And she got discovered. The crew took notice of her as she made her way awkwardly around the deck, looking for some who seemed to be in charge. She tugged on one manâs shirt, âExcuse me⌠but where are we headed?â
