Info : Today we would like to start the description of this dress with a small genealogical outline: Wilhelm Friedrich Karl von Oranien-Nassau (1797-1881), Prince of the Netherlands marries Luise Auguste von Hohenzollern (1808-1870), Princess of Prussia. Her daughter, Wilhelmine Frederica Alexandrine Anna Louise Marie von Oranien-Nassau (1841-1910), married the 5th Prince of Wied: Wilhelm Adolph Maximilian Carl zu Wied. The marriage is born among others: Wilhelmine Friederike Auguste Alexandrine Marie Elisabeth Luise zu Wied (1880-1965). Two years after her death, this dress, along with other clothes and accessories that she owned, will be auctioned at Christie's. They are acquired by Doris Langley Moore on July 11, 1967. Doris Langley Moore (1902-1989) was one of the greatest private collectors of antique clothing. In 1963 she founded the Fashion Museum in Bath, England. Her collection, from which this dress also comes, was in turn bought up by Helen Larson. She lived in California. She was a passionate collector and a brilliant connoisseur of her profession, who made her living by renting out costumes for films and theater. Numerous top-class exhibitions of antique clothing worldwide go back to her collection. April 2018, parts of the Helen Larson collection were auctioned. So we came to this beautiful society dress that has a special story.
