Having been told to go check on Cyrus wasn’t weird. What was weird was what he found upon finding the scholar. Therion was slow, and trying to be at least somewhat stealthy as he snuck towards Cyrus. Wasn’t that book that one from the sewers? What was he doing reading that?

{THERION} ---- “Professor? Hey. Albright.”

The thief let himself be known, walking up next to the scholar and waving his hand in front of the other man’s face.

{CYRUS} ---- “You see Therion, your abilities with magic are already impressive, you simply need to focus more and actually practice with it to be able to cast spells such as fireball.”

This had only begun because Cyrus had witnessed the other cast wildfire, and noticed it was slightly more potent than it had been. So he decided to try talking to the other in an attempt to convince him to practice magic.

{CYRUS} ---- “Perhaps I could teach you some spells to get you started with other elements too. ‘Tis always an asset to have access to as many elements as possible and-”

“ ... I sincerely apologise that you had the misfortune of encountering our Cyrus. ”

Is he really being robbed right now? Is that what’s happening? He wants to cry.

“U-Um, please… give it back?” Rather than a demand, it ends up coming out as a nervous question. Thick eyebrows are furrowed with worry, lips curled into a frown and beads of sweat forming on his face.

☀╎        HE’D THOUGHT HIMSELF ALONE in the upper floor of the tavern- retiring early, trudging sluggishly up the stairs and throwing himself haphazardly across the bed in his room, satchel dropping to the floor with a clatter of empty vials and tinctures.

He was tired. He was starting to wear out- and a seed of worry planted itself in his mind. Homesickness, doubt, worry that the blood on his hands would never wash away.

His other companions? They had it worse off, he dare not complain. Alfyn pulled himself onto his side, resting the sleeve on his arm across his face as he choked down a whine. I miss Zeph, I miss Clearbrook... I miss everythin’ being easy. Even he had his moments; moments of weakness he dare not share with anyone else.

...And then the creak of the door let him know he was sharing it, and he shot straight up to look at Therion’s surprised expression from behind a mess of white hair and purple poncho.

The ruby dragonstone. The first one they needed to get before he could get the stupid band removed off of his wrist. His team for breaking into this scholar’s house was himself, Cyrus, H’aanit, and Ophilia. Though the others were to stick to the back just in case. As he reached for the ruby dragonstone he was stopped by the very scholar he was planning on stealing from.

Of course. That would be his luck with this sort of thing. As he saw the others run in he could feel the ruby dragonstone call for him from behind him. And he ended up listening to it despite the guy’s threats.

The moment he set his hands on the stone, his world went dark.

However to everyone else, Therion was anything but passed out. A dragon loomed where the stone and the thief had once stood, and let out a deafening roar. It was a good thing the roof of the building was high enough for a dragon to stand without hitting the ceiling, otherwise Noblecourt would be in a panic.

The dragon’s rage only lasted for a few minutes, but it was enough to scare off the guards and the scholar. Once the power faded, the dark violet dragon disappeared and in his place was a half conscious Therion who was holding onto the dragonstone close to his body.

{THERION} ---- “Ergh... What the hell?”

{CYRUS} ---- “I have thought about it already though, Therion. I’ve been thinking ever since I found out you were a vampire. Never once did the thought that you would outlive me by centuries or perhaps longer leave me.”

He never was one for thinking about his mortality. But since he had found out about Therion’s curse, he had been thinking about it more and more. As Cyrus laid his head on the other’s chest, he simply sighed and wrapped his arms around him.

Cyrus groaned as the other continued to drink his blood. He would have pushed him away, but he couldn’t. The other’s fangs kept him there since he didn’t want to get his throat accidentally torn out.

{CYRUS} ---- “Therion... I’m... Really dizzy...”
