You know what’s fucking infuriating? Being a part of a program that helps you pay for health insurance because you have low income turning around and telling you that you no longer qualify for assistance....because your income is too low. It’s literally a program for people with low income but if your income is ‘too low’, they won’t help you. In what world does this make sense?
Our (USA) system is so broken that even programs meant to help you won’t if you live from paycheck to paycheck. This is essentially saying that being poor means you don’t deserve healthcare. You don’t deserve medical assistance when you’re sick or help paying for prescriptions you need or rely on.
As I’ve seen someone else say, there are people that are disabled and people that aren’t yet disabled. How is our healthcare system so bad that it would rather let the poor and disabled die off from preventable causes instead of providing the needed assistance? Healthcare shouldn’t be viewed as a luxury when compassion is the first sign of civilization and other countries have proven more accessible healthcare is better for everyone.
