06/08/14 - Blackrock Gap, VA - SUNRISE AT THE SUMMIT - Hiked 9.5 miles to Loft Mountain Wayside. Was on the trail by 6 with the goal of partaking a Trail Magic breakfast that was advertised at the shelter as ending at 9 AM. That meant I had to hike 7 miles quickly which I did. But somehow I missed the correct side trail to the campground and ended up a couple miles past the campground before I could get my bearings. Originally my plan was to hike farther today but logistically, it made more sense to take a short day today and go long the next two days.
We parked the Airstream right where the side trail from the AT enters the campground which was nice because we got to say hi to some of the thru-hikers.
