Today James, Leah and I went down to the Pavilion Gardens cafe to meet with David Sewell, the pavilion Gardens Cafe Manager.

David gave us contacts for the Royal Pavilions operation manager and the Royal Pavilions events office. To secure the space on the grass we’ve found that we’d also need to copy members of the council, Pavilion managers and David into the email. If we go through the Royal Pavilion, David advised us that they would most likely want a risk assessment and would already have one we could fill in. 

We discussed how we’ll get power to our performance area. David has power source for 16amp outdoor power but no lead. He has a lead for normal 13amp power, but we discussed borrowing an outdoor power lead from The Basement which could be an ideal option.

Overall, David was really supportive of our idea and was very helpful with contacts.

On Friday I called David who manages the Pavillion gardens cafe. Whilst on the phone, I gave him a small insight to our festival idea and told him that we would want to set up a main stage area in the pavillion space for multiple local music artists.  

He let us know that if we want to use the grass area, that then comes under the pavillion and that they usually charge a small fee for doing so. If we want to use the hard ground, there will be no fee. 

As a result of the phone call, James and I are meeting with David on Wednesday afternoon so that we can discuss details further. Overall, David sounded very interested in our festival ideas and how we would go about it.
