#local jams

Seeing as it was a solid 8 degrees out, everybody and their mother was freezing. I heavily contemplated going to my friends’ car and getting the blanket that I brought a long and jamming out with it on me wrapped up all nice and neat.

The local act for the Indy date was Goodbye, Goodnight. The artist’s name is Kyle Goffinet. How he was up on stage in just a t-shirt I have no idea, but props to him for doing so. He played a couple of songs that hit you in the feels, and one reminded me of the first line of  A Day To Remembers’ ‘All Signs Point To Lauderdale’ because he mentioned something about hating his town. Overall he is an acoustic artist and he’s really good at what he does. He started off his song ‘Middleman'by telling us that his grandma likes that song, and then said “This song is about my parents getting a divorce.” Looking over the crowd you could see some people out there relate to the words, which is heart breaking. Marina City: As always, Marina City blew everybody away. Ryan’s vocals, good God, do they kill me every single time. They dimmed the lights and made it seem like we were at an actual campfire, which was fun, it just banished any hope that we had for pictures. These guys know what they’re doing when they’re on stage- they know exactly how to get everybody involved with their songs whether it be jumping, dancing, clapping, etc- they can do it. For their last song they got up close and personal with the fans and got rid of microphones. They wanted to make it like old times when they were playing for people to get back home in Texas- a tear dropping story that one is. Here’s a video of it.

7 Minutes In Heaven: My absolute favorite part of the night was being able to see these guys again. Timmy, the vocalist, was (and still is if I’m certain) on vocal rest. Alex, the bassist, took over on vocals but Timmy still sang. He’s expressed multiple times that he hates not being able to give his 100% which sucks because he is so talented. He gives his all and is still trying to get better as the tour goes on. The crowd was screaming “I’m Okay” and in that moment I knew I was where I belonged.Here’s my video for I’m Okay

Broadside: I’d never seen Broadside before until Sunday. And let me tell you what, I was nine levels of surprised and pleased after seeing then. They put on a killer show, like holy shit, it was awesome. At one point there were people hanging from the rafters in the venue and people were jumping, all at an acoustic show! When they come back to Indiana you can count on me for being there in the front row. (Oliver/Dorian if you’re reading this, this is where you can come to blame me for the snow if it’s there when you come back.) Here’s their song Damaged Kids

The show was awesome, there were great bands and great people (for the most part) all around me. I got to see Clayton Collins and Dalton Wixom from the disbanded band Late Nite Reading while there as well! I made sure to tell Clayton that I was glad he was alive.
