george: *watching lockwood and lucy bicker* i would put them on a boat together. they’re cute.
kipps: ?????
holly: …you mean… you ship them?
what really makes me sad about the cancellation of lockwood and co is that there is so much we will never get to see. so many amazing moments, cases, storylines, plots. so many quips from the skull, and locklyle moments. so many shots of a very exasperated barnes. whole character archs that will never be fleshed out, never even discovered for so many — like quill and flo. lockwood’s backstory, george’s hilarity, lucys growth. whole characters we will never get to meet on screen, jessica, don, celia, holly. the problems source will never be uncovered on screen, we will never see jessica’s room, we will never get to watch the iconic empty grave final showdown. the venture to the other side. penelope fittes and marissa revealed.
so many amazing moments, so many amazing characters and scenes and archs and plot lines and dialogue and details. there is so much we have lost and i think we all have a right to be sad, and even heartbroken and devastated over this.
oh yeah we also all definitely have the right to be pissed off at netflix.
Lockwood @ the golden blade:
EXTREMELY UNPOPULAR LNCO OPINION
i like the show better than the books🫢
hear me out
so i was an og book fan (as in, i read and loved them in middle school and have now graduated college) and i really loved them, i did. i did stop reading after the hollow boy (though i pretty much know what happens so dw abt spoilers) because i felt like they were getting a little too cringe for me and i hated the way lucy treated holly. this is coming from an insecure middle schooler!! i was in PEAK “pick me” era and that still really bugged me.
watching the show i just felt like they smoothed out every flaw of the books. yes, lucy is still lucy. she’s young, she’s insecure, she’s got a temper like you wouldn’t believe. she’s still realistic! she still has personality! but she’s not just reduced to her feelings for lockwood. her bad moods don’t hinge on lockwood liking her back or giving attention to someone else, in fact they’re often because of him putting them in danger!! which is only reserved for george in the books, often just to give lucy the opportunity to defend lockwood.
speaking of george, i love show george. yes he’s prickly, yes he’s a straight up weird recluse, but he’s also sweet and loyal and funny. i hate to say it but i really found no redeeming characteristics in book george. it felt like he was only there to be a voice of reason against lockwood (because lucy certainly wasn’t going to be) or to be the butt of (often fatphobic) jokes. or to be mean to lucy so lockwood can tell him to ease up, creating a good moment for the main couple
the found family dynamic (which to be honest i just didn’t feel in the books) felt genuine. you saw every moment that they proved to each other they were there, you saw every moment that backed up each of them trusting one another. i felt like none of that was so real in the books; after a while they just start saying they’re family and you have to take their word for it.
once again, all just my personal opinion. i still loved the books, and maybe there’s nuance that i just missed. all in all it’s a wonderful world that stroud built and i’m so glad it got another opportunity to shine (however brief🥲)
long post but i’m done!!

anybody know that scene in Up where Muntz and Carl fight sword-to-walking-stick? Now all I can imagine is that when somebody breaks into Portland Row one night, Lockwood can’t reach any rapiers so George just. Tosses him a walking stick from the mess of his room and not only does Lockwood fend off an intruder with a walking stick but he WINS
What do you guys think, can l&co ghosts show up on camera? Can only kids see ghosts on video? Does it not work at all? What’s the consensus here what are we thinking
Guys, Stroud will be taking part in an event at the International Literature Festival in Dublin this month, let's show him our love and support and hope there'll be a way to save the show
