POV: you just asked divine optimus what her plans were for the circles and her glorified secretary is about to have you thrown out of court

so in dark of the moon megatron went apeshit on sentinel while sentinel was half a second away from killing optimus on the bridge in dark of the moon is because megatron was having a really life moral panic about having teamed up with an autobot that had just slammed his face into a building like he was nothing when they were supposed to be on equal footing working together and that perhaps sentinel was only using him and the decepticons, as autobots have done for eons, as means to an end. and after they bring cybertron back to life, the status quo will be restored and the decepticons will be at the bottom again

so megatron beats the shit out of sentinel, but he leaves optimus virtually untouched— and in fact, despite currently having the upper hand with the space bridge, tried to appeal to optimus. he talks about how they can work together now and asks optimus “after all, where would you be without me?” to which optimus responds “i believe it’s time to find out”, lending credence to the fact that he might not be anything without him, and then kills megatron, who has lowered his guard so much he doesn’t even have the opportunity to fight back. then in tlk they only barely interact but megatron says “you were my brother once” and optimus replies “once” and then launches him out of a falling rock
