The house will deteriorate like hell, and she’ll have to be careful not to get wanged by a falling beam or whatever.
His point is, she has to be careful, but she has to be quick. He doesn’t know how she’s gonna do it, but she’s gotta. This’s gotta end tonight and she’s gonna need a plan.
Vick says that when all of this started, Whitby had inherited the house from his father and he was a cruel master. He’d bully his brother incessantly, tormented the house doctor, and manipulated Crichton.
Whitby Woulfe loved power. Control. He made Crichton convince Vaudeville that Vick had left him, but his true fate was far worse.
Vick says Whitby tortured him, mutilated him, taunted him, and every day he’d treat his wounds so he could do the same tomorrow.
And now, Crichton has the same thirst for control, and keeps him alive in the same fashion, so he can cling to his power in the house.
She has to kill him. She’ll find him in the attic, inside the old grandfather clock.
He’s been there for 15 years. Crichton’s been keeping him alive, feeding him, treating his injuries.
He is the force behind the house.
He is what is keeping them all alive.
Crichton will do anything to stop her, but she has to kill him. That way, everyone can move on. Everyone can wake up.
