!! - A bit of angst, a happy ending (?), the character is a girl born in Brazil, perhaps a little outside the norm, inspired by the game between Japan and Brazil.
The moment he scored Japan's first goal and started celebrating, the first thing he did was look for you, wanting to see your reaction.
But then he noticed you weren't nearly as excited as everyone else, and he remembered, you were cheering for the other team. The team representing your home country.
The realization immediately took some of the excitement out of him. He kept watching you, and when your eyes finally met, he noticed your smile. It was there... but it wasn't entirely genuine. Of course it wasn't. You were happy for him, but heartbroken for your country.
He couldn't help but remember the conversation you'd had when you found out the match would be Japan versus Brazil. He had told you it was okay to support your own country, and you'd smiled, saying you would cheer for both teams. No matter who won, you'd end up leaving the stadium both happy and sad.
There was only one minute of stoppage time left.
Isagi was already looking forward to the penalty shootout, completely confident that Japan would come out on top.
Then he glanced toward his team's goal.
In that instant, he realized Brazil was about to score.
Before he could react, before he could even shout a warning, the entire stadium erupted.
His eyes immediately darted to the scoreboard.
The final whistle blew only moments later.
Japan had been eliminated. He didn't feel sad. He felt furious. A blinding, suffocating kind of rage. They had been so close.
Just one more minute.Sixty seconds.Sixty seconds away from penalties.Sixty seconds away from having another chance to win.
If I'd noticed sooner... If I'd been closer to the goal... If I'd been faster...
His thoughts were interrupted by the gentle feeling of fingers running through his hair.
Looking up, he found you standing there.
The anger was still burning inside him, but somehow... it eased, just a little.
"Are you happy?" he asked, trying not to sound harsh, though he failed miserably. "Your country's moving on."
After a brief pause, he sighed.
"I'm sorry... I... I've just got a lot on my mind." He waited for you to answer.
Instead, you wrapped your arms around him. It took him a few seconds to process it before he quietly slipped an arm around your waist.
"You were incredible," you murmured against his neck. "What happened wasn't your fault. You did everything you possibly could."
"It wasn't enough," he replied, slowly pulling away.
"Maybe it wasn't," you admitted. "But you can lose a thousand times, because in the end, you only have to win once."
Silence settled between the two of you for a few moments.
Then, with a small smile, you lifted the Brazil jersey you were wearing.
"If it makes you feel any better," you said with a grin, "I genuinely thought Brazil was going to lose."
"But now that we won... why don't you cheer for Brazil to finally win the sixth World Cup?"
"...And then, four years from now, you can win it yourself."
He was still staring at the Japan jersey hidden beneath your Brazil shirt, looking completely dumbfounded.
His eyes widened even more when you started taking off the Brazil jersey altogether.
He immediately reached out, grabbing the Japan jersey underneath so you wouldn't accidentally pull it off too.
Once the shock finally wore off, he let out a quiet laugh.
Then he pulled you into his arms and kissed you.
"You're honestly unbelievable."
The moment Japan scored the opening goal, he was absolutely ecstatic. It seemed like even his monster was celebrating.
Naturally, he started teasing the opposing team, not because he wanted to humiliate them, but because he couldn't help himself, even though he has a lot of affection for Brazil.
When he ran over to celebrate with you, he noticed your Brazil jersey and immediately came back to his senses, remembering exactly who you were rooting for.
He puffed out his cheeks with a little pout before jogging over to Japan's bench, grabbing his team jacket, and bringing it back to you.
"You're seriously expecting me to wear a jacket during an American summer?" you asked, trying to understand your boyfriend's logic.
"It's called fashion, sweetheart. Bye-bye! I've got a game to win," he replied with a wink before running back onto the field, his coach already yelling at him for taking so long.
When the match finally ended, he looked much better than you'd expected.
He was obviously upset, but after sitting on the pitch for a while, he got back to his feet just as Lavinho walked over to him.
Lavinho talked with him for a bit before pulling him into a hug.
By the time they pulled away, Bachira already looked much brighter, joking around again as he wandered off to chat with the other players.
When you finally reached him, he was talking to a few Brazilian players.
The second he spotted you, he excused himself and walked over before wrapping you in a dramatic hug.
"I'm SO devastated!!" he cried dramatically, practically hanging his entire body weight on you. "I'll never recover from this. I think I'm going to lock myself inside a cave somewhere in Japan and never come out again!"
He tightened his grip around you.
"But you don't care, do you? Your country won! I feel so betrayed that you didn't cheer for me even a little!"
"Oh, really?" you replied with a teasing smile. "That's such a shame that I didn't cheer for you..."
You reached for the hem of your Brazil jersey.
"...Since you want my support so badly, I guess I'll just take this off."
As you started pulling the jersey over your head, his eyes widened slightly.
Without thinking, he grabbed the shirt you were wearing underneath so it wouldn't come off with it.
You were wearing Japan's jersey underneath.
Even after Japan had lost.
He didn't even try to hide how emotional he got.
Instead, he threw his arms around you and kissed you.
"OH MY GOD!" he exclaimed. "I'm not alone after all, and my girlfriend still loves me! That's it, I'm staying glued to you forever, sweetheart!"
He clung to you shamelessly, not caring that an entire stadium could see him.
"That's a shame..." you teased. "Because I think I just spotted Ronaldinho... but you won't be able to talk to him if you're stuck to me."
"...Especially since you were just talking about hiding in your cave forever."
The moment you said "Ronaldinho," he let go of you instantly.
His head whipped around as he searched through the crowd.
The second he spotted him, he sprinted off without a second thought...
Completely forgetting that he'd just lost the World Cup.
If he's being honest (as he always is), he never even wanted to play for Japan in the first place, and he's made that perfectly clear more than once.
When Japan scored, he didn't celebrate. Instead, he glanced at you, noticed the disappointed look on your face, and gave you a small nod, silently telling you that everything would be okay.
He genuinely doesn't care whether they win or lose. Deep down, he never believed Japan was going to win the World Cup anyway, so his expectations were never high.
When Brazil scored the equalizer, he wasn't surprised in the slightest. In fact, he was more surprised it had taken that long. For a brief moment, with only a couple of minutes left in stoppage time, he actually thought Japan might pull it off... until, with only one minute remaining, Brazil scored the winning goal.
The referee's final whistle echoed through the stadium.
While some of his teammates were crying, others were desperately trying not to cry, and a few pretended not to care at all...
Sae simply walked over, grabbed a bottle of water, and took a drink.
When he noticed you approaching, a faint smile crossed his face.
The moment you wrapped your arms around him and quietly apologized, he looked at you as if you'd just said something completely ridiculous.
"Don't worry about it," he said flatly. "I told you we weren't going to win. I was expecting this."
He took another sip of water.
"I should've changed my nationality a long time ago. Then I'd be playing for Spain."
His eyes drifted down to your jersey before he spoke again.
"That said... Japan played well today."
"But you all played really well!" you insisted. "You made Brazil struggle the entire match. If you keep improving like this, you'll definitely lift the trophy next time."
You couldn't help feeling relieved that your boyfriend was the type of person who rarely got worked up over anything.
"And... don't tell anyone."
With a small smile, you lifted your Brazil jersey just enough to reveal the Japan jersey underneath.
One of Sae's eyebrows rose.
A quiet chuckle escaped him.
"I believe you've just committed a serious crime."
He was about to continue talking to you when one of Brazil's players, who also played for Real Madrid, walked over to comfort him.
Then he congratulated them on advancing to the next round before continuing the conversation as though nothing had happened.
When he scores, he does his best to act indifferent while the rest of his teammates rush over and pile on top of him in celebration.
Even though he's just scored against your country and Japan is winning, he instinctively searches for you in the crowd. It's something he always does after scoring.
The moment he finds you, he simply stares, unsure of what he's supposed to do. After a few seconds, he forces himself to focus on the match again.
When the game ends, he's left in complete disbelief. He can't wrap his head around the fact that just sixty seconds were enough to knock Japan out of the World Cup.
When you make your way down to the pitch, you find Rin sitting on the grass with his head lowered, silently trying to make sense of everything that had just happened.
The moment he notices you approaching, his shoulders tense even more, though he still refuses to look up.
"Go away," he mutters coldly. "Shouldn't you be celebrating?"
Instead, you walk over and sit beside him.
For a few moments, neither of you says anything as you search for the right words.
"You know..." you begin softly. "When you scored, I celebrated."
"But it wasn't because Japan was winning or because Brazil was losing."
You gently reach for his hand where it rests against the grass."It was because you scored."
"So yes... my country may have won..."
"But I don't want to celebrate with them."
You tighten your grip on his hand just a little.
"They could win the entire World Cup against you, and I'd still choose to be here."
"...Why?" It's the only thing Rin asks.
For the first time, he finally lifts his head to look at you, confusion filling his eyes.
"Because I can only celebrate if you're there..."
After hearing those words, he quietly rests his head against your shoulder.
Neither of you speaks. You simply stay like that for a few moments.
Then, as if suddenly remembering that the two of you are sitting in the middle of a packed stadium, Rin quickly stands up.
Without saying a word, he reaches down to help you to your feet before quietly leading you toward the stadium exit.
"Are you going back?" you ask as you walk beside him.
"I'll stay a little longer," he answers. "There's not much waiting for me in Japan anyway."
But as you glance over at him, you notice the tips of his ears have turned bright red.
Yeah...That definitely says it all.
Isagi, Bachira and Rin (I couldn't think of anything for Sae)
!! suggestive in the Isagi and Rin part, but nothing too heavy. !!
You couldn't stop laughing.
Right now, you were in your hotel room watching Germany's match against Paraguay while Isagi had gone out to discuss something with the coach and the rest of the team.
The moment he walked into the room, he heard your laughter and immediately came over to see what was so funny.
"Hey, babe, what's got you laughing so hard?" he asked, setting the takeout he'd brought back on the hotel room table.
"Ah..." You tried to hold back another laugh. "Germany got eliminated."
The second those words left your mouth, you watched Isagi's eyes widen in real time.
He immediately walked over to the TV, only to find Paraguay celebrating their victory.
"Oops... I forgot there's someone important to you over there." You smirked mischievously. "Why don't you go comfort Kaiser? Better yet, invite him over. I'm sure he'd love to be comforted by you."
The teasing smile on your face quickly disappeared the moment you saw the look he gave you.
"...Yeah," he said slowly. "I was actually thinking about being comforted by you... alone."
"But since you seem so determined to keep bringing him up... why not?"
As he pulled out his phone, you suddenly realized something.
Tonight...The ones crying definitely weren't going to be Germany.
Bachira practically launched himself onto the bed and snatched your phone out of your hands.
The reason? You'd just told him that Zico had been one of the match commentators and had spent several minutes praising Bachira's dribbling.
Now your boyfriend was absolutely losing his mind.
"I can't believe this!! I'm so happy! I need that clip! I'm sending it to my mom!"
The moment he unlocked your phone...He froze.
When you leaned over to see what had happened, you immediately noticed the notification.
Zico started following you.
"This is officially the best worst day of my life," Bachira declared as he hurried to take a screenshot so he could show off to absolutely everyone.
Rin was lying on the bed, scrolling through his phone while rewatching the entire match.
He'd just taken a shower and was trying to relax after spending hours answering interview questions about Japan's defeat.
Meanwhile, you were getting ready to take your own shower.
As you started taking off your Brazil jersey, Rin absentmindedly watched you, expecting to see you in nothing but your bra once you pulled it over your head.
You'd been wearing Japan's jersey the entire time.
He stared at you in complete disbelief.
Without another thought, he locked his phone and gave you his full attention.
"You've been wearing Japan's jersey underneath this whole time..." he said, trying very hard not to let it show just how much seeing you in his jersey, with his name and number on the back, affected him.
"Well..." you replied with a sheepish smile. "I kind of forgot. But you've seen it now, haven't you?"
You started taking it off so you could finally shower.
Before you could, you felt someone gently tug the jersey back down.
Looking up, you found Rin standing right in front of you.
"Yeah, I have," he said quietly.
"So... why don't we leave it on a little longer?" As he spoke, he gently guided you back toward the bed.
