After I watched Chapter 5, I was so pissed off by the fact that the devs are dragging the story on for God Knows How Long, that I thought my Smiling/Nightmare Critters hyperfixation wouldn't come back for Round 2 this spring. I first got fixated on them ~December '24, and the fixation lasted until around June '25. Boy was I wrong. We got the crumbliest of crumbs of Critter characters/characterization/development, and yet it was somehow enough for me to be dragged back in the fucking building again. (I say this last part affectionately lol)

Got some of the usual DayNap content today, and after seeing the Ms. Gracie video with CatNap and Baba, I felt inclined to draw them stargazing together (My multishipper heart was tweaking when I saw that clip btw). My friend @stellarstar18 proposed their ship name to be SleepySheep, which sounds better than any fusion of their names I'd tried to come up with, so I'm gonna use that to refer to them in the future.

Also just a side note, going into headcanon territory cause of CatNap's signing in the first picture under the cut cause I love to ramble about ideas for these guys, in case you wanna read it:

Decided I'm just gonna post the sketches for the rest of my pride month art from last year, not inspired enough to finish any ATM (For context I did all the sketches before June to give myself a head start and still fumbled LMAO)

NOW BEFORE YOU DOUBT THE VISION I'm not saying these characters are similar in personality or anything, their respective Venn diagrams would have a very VERY small middle. But Kris (albeit through the player/soul's intervention) stringing along Noelle into a "stronger" person who is willing to harm others for her own gain, it's very reminiscent of Gamzee stringing along Equius after reincarnating him into a broader scheme that leads to the eventual formation of Lil' Cal and subsequently Lord English through fusion shenanigans. The closest equivalent in the Undertale/Deltarune universe we've seen to fusion shenanigans is Undertale's amalgamates, but there's enough credibility to the concept that the knight could possibly be some sort of amalgam, just not the exact same thing as an amalgamate given the circumstances to which the amalgamates were created.

I've seen their debut episode three times already, and showing them and their theme song to my brother convinced him to watch the show with me, so I'll be watching it a fourth time soon enough HEHEHEHE

Normally I'd add this to my queue but Wednesdays mean New P&S episodes and this is my way of manifesting that they'll function ala the Demon Sisters in S1, making them recurring rivals/antagonists to our leads

Also this is just general yap banter but oh my fucking GOD dude, S2 is such a step above S1 in like every way besides the dub being a little more mid (And that's not on the new VAs, some are extremely good in other series, it's more on the voice DIRECTION and the script being more 1:1 because those anime translation purists are lame incel losers that get triggered over shit like the "bitches, bros and nonbinary hoes" ad-libs in the SK8 dub and bitch about it to the dubbing companies and VAs >:( )

That being said, I've watched these twins' debut scene in both dub & sub, as well as some extra commentary from the dub VAs, and can confirm most of the AAVE/Gen Z speak was ad-libbed by the VAs (Both of whom are apparently nonbinary which is hella fucking cool and explains why they were made to sound so zesty rfedrftghjgfd) and felt like a personal call-out of me when I first watched it LMAO :'D For the first couple days after it released I was so insecure about how I sounded sdftgjhhrfedrftgyh

Did somebody else say "Homestuck characters in a Mirai Nikki/Future Diary AU?" No? Only me? Okay lol

This all started because I had the passing thought of, "Yo didn't Mirai Nikki's death royale have 12 players in it? Putting the beta sesh trolls in that would fuck," and now I'm 10 episodes into the anime in less than a week (I hadn't seen any of it since high school) and have 7/12 of the diary holder cast figured out

Aradia's association with time & time travel GREATLY affected my decision in her taking on Yuno's role, and Sollux being Homestuck's biggest introvert made me pick him for Yukiteru. He would be a lot less of a gullible wuss in comparison of course lol. I genuinely think once he'd play along with Aradia's obsession that the two would be basically unstoppable.

My list for who'd be who so far is as follows, these are the only ones I'm like almost definitive about:

I've finally drawn Sollux with two sets of ears and don't hate it!! It's something I see in fan art all the time, and I made a point of continuing to try drawing him with them until I could get it to look peak. The ears a troll develops are a sexual dimorphism trait in my personal headcanon -- upward for male, downward for female -- and for quite some time I was thinking about the implications of that were I to include two sets of ears on him.

And while I thought about a lot of different ideas, I landed on the headcanon that he's intersex, mainly presenting masculine features. His upward ears are where he hears from, and his downward ears are underdeveloped, so they're pretty tiny in comparison to the average female troll's. Both sets are also connected to each other a little bit.

He was raised as a male, and identifies as such, explaining away the second set of ears to anyone curious as a simple mutation. He also had top surgery once he hit puberty, having a larger chest made him dysphoric, but nobody would know unless they saw him shirtless cause he doesn't talk about it.
