Kit tried to stay away from his phone during events. Something about being present, grounding himself with the people in the room. But as busy as the Casino Night venue was, there were still lulls. Kit found himself burrowing his hand into the pocket of his slacks to retrieve his phone, having felt it buzzing in there earlier when he was having a conversation with someone. The group chat was active again. No surprise. But its contents? Big surprise. Huge. In fact, definitely made him regret choosing to look at his phone at all. God, Kit wished he didn’t know how to read. Locking his phone, he watched the screen go dark and slid it back into his pocket. He needed a drink. A real one this time. He’s earned it after all of the mocktails and waters he’s had. It was on his way to the bar that Kit thought perhaps all of the good luck he’s had this evening has finally run out, crossing paths with Link. He sighed at the sight of them. “Pick up your Minions watch yet?” He asked, his tone bored to the bone.

The Rolling Stones’ Miss You playing from a jukebox. The scent of cigarette smoke so thick in the air it practically clung to you. A dive bar at its finest. After the debate in the campus group chat, Avery itched to find herself in one. All it took was a quick Google search to locate one not too far from Ogden. Then a text to one Link Crawford so she didn’t have to spend the night alone. Dive bars got boring real quick when you didn’t drink. She’d need company to keep herself entertained throughout the night, and Link’s was as good as any. 

To their surprise, it was Karaoke Night at this particular dive bar they rocked up to. Sharp feedback from a mic on the small stage in the establishment greeted her ears, followed by what she assumed was the bar manager tapping into it a couple of times. “Jesus,” she muttered, a small chuckle leaving her as she watched him announce that their special event of the evening would now be taking place. A few whoops and hollers were heard from the bar’s patrons. Some applause too. But no one had taken the stage just yet. She turned to Link. “How much would I have to pay you to get up there and sing something from Celine Dion?” She asked, staring at them with amusement in her eyes and her mouth stretched into a wide smile.
