‘Best of its kind’ Part Q Manual from Liniar has just been published on MyTradeTV
New Post has been published on http://www.mytrade.tv/2016/11/16/best-of-its-kind-part-q-manual-from-liniar/
‘Best of its kind’ Part Q Manual from Liniar
In characteristic Liniar style, the in-house technical experts at the innovative systems house have reviewed the legislative requirements for Document Q compliance and produced a flawless guide for the benefit of its fabricator customers.
Best of its kind
Described as ‘the best of its kind’ by several of the first fabricators to get their hands on a copy, the Liniar Part Q Manual uses detailed illustrations and instructions to explain how to achieve compliance for every Liniar product in the range.
Easier to comply
The full-colour document makes it easier for Liniar fabricators to ensure compliance with Part Q security regulations for windows and doors, as well as helping them build their own products for testing.
Document Q requirements
The strict requirements of Document Q refer to all easily accessible windows and doors installed within new build dwellings and flats in England, together with excepted energy buildings in Wales – including extensions to existing properties and material change of use of a building, or part of it.
For compliance, windows and doors need evidence to demonstrate the product has been “manufactured to a design that has been shown by test to meet the security requirements of British Standards publication PAS 24:2012/PAS 24:2016”, or equivalent enhanced security testing.
Saving time, cost and effort
Paul Garforth, Technical Manager for Liniar, is delighted to announce the launch of the new guide:
“We’ve already undergone the rigorous process of testing,” he explains, “so the new guide has been designed to save our customers time, cost and effort – providing they use the exact same components we used in testing.
“In many instances this will mean that no further testing is required – so all fabricators need to do is request a copy of the PAS 24 test certificate for each of the product types, which can then can be used to show compliance.”
Multi-purpose
“Of course, if customers also wish to carry out their own product testing, perhaps with slightly different components, then the multi-purpose details within the new manual may also be used for guidance in this situation,” comments Paul.
Raising security standards
The latest guide in Liniar’s growing library of high quality resources, the Part Q Manual is intended to raise quality standards in the marketplace by offering clear guidelines to the components and manufacturing techniques necessary to meet the strict testing process.
Specifying the correct positioning of components, such as glazing platforms and run-up ramps, in a simple pictorial format, the guide includes cross section drawings to explain the internal elements and screw locations.
Fully updated
Covering panels, standard and triple glazing options, the latest hardware solutions will be added to the guide on an ongoing basis to ensure that the manual contains the most up-to-date information. Liniar customers requiring a copy of the new Part Q Manual can email [email protected] or call the Liniar Technical team on 01332 883900.
Liniar Launches Foam Roofline Range has just been published on MyTradeTV
New Post has been published on http://www.mytrade.tv/2016/08/22/liniar-launches-foam-roofline-range/
Liniar Launches Foam Roofline Range
Liniar is delighted to announce the launch of its new roofline range. Made from the same lead-free ingredients as the rest of the innovative Liniar range, this latest launch means installers can now offer customers everything they need for a quality, fully matching installation.
The comprehensive range incorporates capping and replacement fascias, both foam and hollow soffits, a full set of associated trims and mouldings, ventilation options and dry verge – with the launch offering plenty of key advantages to the installer.
Thicker, stronger, and better value
At 20mm thick, instead of the customary 16mm, Liniar’s fascia boards will provide greater strength. Longer return legs and extra cover on mouldings will assist ease of fitting. And pricing will be competitive, with the thicker 20mm boards being similar to 16mm prices from competitors.
Quality products
Liniar boards are manufactured using the latest advancements in extrusion equipment and technology to provide a consistent thickness of board with improved flatness.
Pre-marked for convenience
The protective tape on Liniar’s boards is pre-marked and lined, making it easy to find the centre line for the rafter end. Should the board need cutting, installers are guaranteed a straight cut with no need to peel back the tape, mark the board and risk scratching.
Fully matching
The range of boards and trims will be available from stock in the same choice of foiled colours as the Liniar sculptured window suite, with special colours and finishes also being available with a longer lead time. All mouldings will be foiled to match for a perfect finish to installations.
No competition
Customers can be assured of Liniar’s continuing loyalty as the new range will be exclusively available through selected Liniar fabricators and installers – Liniar won’t sell direct, meaning no competition in the market place.
The new range is available to order now – find out more at www.liniar.co.uk/supplies or call Liniar on 01332 883900.
Alumina by Liniar – a New Breed of Bi-fold has just been published on MyTradeTV
New Post has been published on http://www.mytrade.tv/2016/08/02/alumina-by-liniar-a-new-breed-of-bi-fold/
Alumina by Liniar – a New Breed of Bi-fold
The Liniar design team, renowned for continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation, have launched their latest product at the FIT Show – a true aluminium bi-fold door which rewrites the rules!
‘Alumina by Liniar’ has been designed and developed by the same team of experts as the Liniar window system, also the first to launch a bespoke PVCu bi-folding door system to the market in 2011.
The brand new bi-fold door was created in response to customer feedback, as a number of Liniar PVCu fabricators also wish to offer customers an aluminium alternative for larger apertures and commercial projects.
Having built a well-earned reputation in the PVCu fenestration sector, this will be Liniar’s first departure into aluminium – and the Alumina doors include some clever enhancements to set them apart from rival systems.
The technical experts at Liniar have steered clear of the ‘hybrid’ type of door system that’s become popular in recent years – for a number of reasons, but mainly as they can be a nightmare to fabricate, requiring specialist machinery. In addition, hybrid systems are difficult to recycle at the end or their useful life, as the components are too integrated to be easily separated.
It can also be difficult to explain the benefits of a hybrid system to consumers. PVCu systems have obvious thermal benefits, and aluminium systems have strength and size as their main selling points. Hybrid systems are neither one thing nor the other.
The Alumina system is a true aluminium bi-fold door – but includes some innovative twists, as you’d expect from Liniar.
Made with standard machinery
Able to span 1.2 metres wide per sash and 2.5 metres high, Alumina by Liniar is manufactured using standard aluminium machinery but includes added extra features to make it the ideal choice for heavy duty use.
Warm touch exterior
Aluminium doors are considered sleek, strong, smooth and beautiful, yet can often feel cold – Alumina by Liniar sets the record straight with an optional ‘warm touch’ foiled exterior.
Like other aluminium bi-folds, Alumina by Liniar can be offered in just about any powder-coated colour you can imagine. But what makes Alumina different is that you can also choose a beautiful wood grain or flat foiled finish for your doors. This means if you have Liniar PVCu windows in your property, you can choose a perfectly matching aluminium bi-fold door – with the foil adding a ‘warm touch’ finish to your doors.
Fully sculptured to match
Alumina is the only fully sculptured (curved) aluminium bi-fold door on the market – so not only will consumers be able to choose Alumina doors that match the exact colour of Liniar sculptured PVCu windows, they will also be the same shape – providing a seamless finish.
Thermally efficient aluminium?
The Liniar PVCu range is renowned for its energy efficiency and Alumina is no different. Pushing the boundaries of thermal performance, the team has created a system designed with tomorrow’s thermal performance requirements in mind, a feature not usually compatible with traditional aluminium windows or doors.
Innovative thermal lock
An area where heat can be lost from the home is through the lock, as it’s difficult to maintain a thermal break in this area. Alumina has been designed from scratch with a combined lock and thermal insert. This innovative lock unites the ultimate specification of security with a high strength engineering polymer lock body – so the lock itself acts as a thermal break, boosting the door’s thermal performance compared to a traditional aluminium door.
Low U-values
With 28mm double glazed and 36mm or 40mm triple glazed options available, Alumina offers ‘true’ U-values as low as 1.0W/m²k, thanks to the innovative thermal lock and 40mm triple glazed unit.
High security
Alumina ensures the highest security for homeowners with a suite of hardware following the same principles as the Liniar ModLok™ bi-fold system, including multiple bi-directional locking points, shootbolts that secure firmly into the track, built-in anti-lift features and anti-bump cylinders.
Threshold options
All Alumina bi-folding doors are available with three threshold options, for the ultimate in choice. The rebated aluminium frame runs seamlessly around to form a weathertight threshold, and the doors are supplied with this as standard. Liniar’s optional aluminium low threshold requires no trench excavation to install, and is just 23.5mm at its highest point.
Bottom rolling
Easy to open and close, Alumina bi-folds move smoothly and effortlessly along a sleek stainless steel track and are ‘bottom rolling’, not top-hung – meaning no extra stresses are placed on the building’s lintel.
Attention to detail
With innovative features including folding keys, ergonomic handles, hidden fixings for hinges and discreet magnets, the attention to detail is what makes an Alumina bi-folding door ‘best in class’.

Liniar fabricator helps Home for a Hero project has just been published on MyTradeTV

Liniar fabricator helps Home for a Hero project
Kind hearted volunteers and generous companies have combined to assist an East Midlands project in giving a long-term unoccupied home a new lease of life for soldiers returning from conflict.
Derby electrician Tim Cox launched the Home for a Hero project, in conjunction with Derventio Housing trust, a charity which supports homeless people, because he was upset at how soldiers were treated when coming home from overseas.
He was astounded at the amount of assistance the scheme has attracted from friends, family, tradesmen and businesses that have rallied to the cause – the first property was cleared and ready for renovation in just two days with 19 people pitching in!
And one of those companies, Liniar fabricator Midland Glass, was more than happy to do their bit for the commendable scheme.
Trading for more than 30 years, Midland Glass is a family-run firm operating in Derby out of 10,000 square foot premises and serving the whole of the midlands.
Priding itself on manufacturing high quality products, Midland was the first fabricator in the region to gain Liniar Approved Fabricator status.
John Walker, Midland Glass Production Manager, explains how they became involved in the project: “A good customer of ours, Chris Chatburn of UPVC Specialist, approached us and asked if we could offer any help. They needed a door for the back of the property and once we heard what it was for, we were delighted to get involved.
“I watched the DIY SOS team on TV renovating homes for servicemen returning from action and found it very inspirational. How can you not want to help such a worthy cause?”
John approached Terry Grant, Regional Sales Director at Liniar, to ask if they would be willing to provide any assistance.
“We were only too pleased to be able to do our bit towards such an admirable development,” said Terry. “We credited the cost of the profile necessary for Midland Glass to manufacture the door without a second thought.
“These youngsters put their lives on the line for Queen and country and often come home to nothing, not even a roof over their heads. It’s shameful really and projects like this should be fully supported so we can give something back to these heroes.”
Midland Glass manufactured and supplied the white half-glazed PVCu door for free, contributing to the finished project that will be become home for two Derby soldiers who will be selected with the help of the Royal British Legion.
The project was able to get off the ground after Tim Cox was introduced to the chief executive of Derventio, Sarah Hernandez. The trust locates properties to manage for landlords and landladies while charging a low rent and is now looking for more properties that could be used by Home for a Hero.
For more information on Home for a Hero email Tim at [email protected].
