Thanks for your posts about how CF handles women. One thing I've always appreciate re: emotional work is how Hubert and Ferdinand call each other out and debate each other re: the best approach to being Edelgard's retainer. I feel like it takes a lot of the pressure off of her, because some of these points are brought up in her supports with them, but you know their development is being forwarded by their own private discussions, so she's not responsible for all of their behavior.
Oh, excellent point! It is never, ever Edelgard’s job to fix either of them or help them overcome their own traumas or biases. Though she cares deeply for Hubert and desperately tries to take care of him despite his secretiveness, it’s very much implied that he does the same for her, and always has. He’s the support in their dynamic. Meanwhile, it is definitely Hubert and Ferdinand who do a lot of that emotional work for each other.
For that matter, the same can be said for Caspar and Linhardt. Their mealtime conversations definitely imply both that Lin spends a lot of time trying to remind Caspar of manners, and that Caspar is a source of comfort for Lin during the war.
