daeinâs apartment
misfit siblings
when daein left for japan as a teen, jaein had realized for the first time how much she relied on him. the sprawling apartment had been too quite without his games, without the arguments that filled the air between him and their father. the tension had abated and left her with a very empty feeling, the absence of much of anything, just a bland and boring trudge through daily life. sheâd been on that hamster wheel since she was born, without properly thinking about it. doing what she was told to do, being what she was told to be. there hadnât been any resentment because jaein had been such a passive creature. it wasnât that she had been chafing against the restraints and choosing not to rebel, it was that rebellion hadnât really ever occurred to her.Â
daein had taught her loneliness, first, and then frustration, and then rebellion.Â
and in the end it had led her here, lingering on the brink of debut with nothing but impatience to speak to, buzzing with pent up energy and twisting up in uncertainty as she reclined on the familiar couch. she envies daein his long-running career, his established nature. she wants that, the security of it and the certainty. thereâs a freedom too.Â
but she has hope for herself, too. midas knows what theyâre doing, if their other groups are any indicator, and theyâve already determined her ability to make them money, have used it to their advantage, signing her up for various petty commercials and photoshoots, pushing her into dream high to simper and scowl her way to whatever mediocre attention she can manage of it. the sound of the game playing over the screen finally draws her from her phone-based reverie and she lifts a long leg to push her foot between his shoulders, bending the boy sitting on the floor in front of her near in half, a laugh on her lips as he exclaims his frustration.Â
âpay attention to me, i came all the way here to hang out with your hermit ass, you should be more appreciative.â the last thing daein likely wants to do on a day off is entertain his sister, but jaein hadnât given him much opportunity to protest, instead arriving at his door, coffee in hand, without forewarning.Â
