Here it is so far, both in and out of the sun (and folded in a quarter so I can easily take pictures). No pattern of course, and not based on anything I saw because I checked ravelry for hats knit in various lace/light fingering linen yarns and found almost nothing, and none of it very interesting. Handspun and dyed with oak gall, modified with homemade iron mordant.
Almost done with the hat--working on the decreases now. I anticipate finishing today, which will be 5 days to knit this, which is very slow for me had this hat been wool. Its 140 stitches total--I think I could knit a comparable wool hat in maybe 3 days. However, as my stitches probably show, this was very difficult to knit ! The yarn did not co-operate at all. It was like knitting with thin, semi-flexible wire. Hurt my hands a ton. If I do a project like this again I'll have to soften the yarn a lot more first.
I tried it on again last night and it fits well, but definitely needs some work before its wearable because despite me picking out lots of chaff as I spun and knit, I could still feel tons poking me in the head.
