stuff and things I drew for the class about linear perspective I took this semester :)
The first half of my university intro to art class is done! These are all the pieces we had for critique! I'm really happy with how they've turned out so far and I only have a couple of things to fix before handing them in for the midterm!!!
I’ve been getting really into sacrilegious geometry recently
Understanding circles.
I originally wanted to cover spherical perspective next. However, since that would require an understanding of how to draw circles at different angles, I thought that I should cover that first.
Let's start with orthographic projection. In orthographic projection, when a flat surface is seen from an angle, it will simply appear to be squashed downwards a bit.
One mistake that I see a lot of beginner artists make is, when drawing roads or rivers, they will draw it with the same thickness all the way, no matter how it curves. In reality, they will appear thinner when they move horizontally, and wider when they move vertically.
Knowing this principle, we can figure out that a circle, when viewed from an angle, is just a simple ellipse. So far so simple. But now comes the tricky part.
Let’s do an exercise. Here is a cube:
I want you to imagine drawing a circle on each of its visible faces. One on top, one on its left side and one on its right side. When you're done, click keep reading to see what it should look like.

"Audition"
I made this a few weeks ago for a "concept art" assignment. It was my first attempt at linear perspective and I did not learn until critique that the table is not in fact in perspective, but we move. It was a fun one, I liked making the little characters. The room was modeled off of our classroom, but with more exciting colors and a better view out the windows.
