林笛 - 迷路新娘 - 高地山歌
Lin Di - Bride in Legend - Mountain Song of the Highlands
Listen/purchase: 独木成林Single Forest by LinDi
LinDi is working on her newest solo project, releasing the songs one at a time on bandcamp. This is a very short a cappella piece. By the way, her band Cold Fairyland are also releasing songs in this manner. =)
Listen/purchase: 摹仿剧场Mirror Theater by Cold Fairyland
Everything I love about this band: mysterious, dramatic, progressive rock that straddles western & eastern styles. Crank up the volume! =D
Cold Fairyland official, and their facebook.
Lin Di 林笛, the composer from Cold Fairyland released a project called The Gossypium Era in 2013, and *they performed only a few shows. (*Members of Cold Fairyland plus some additional musicians, I think) You can read about the project, and listen/purchase at bandcamp. Cold Fairyland site in English & Mandarin --------------------- doufuhua said: It’s an amazing album. I’m a big fan of all of Lin Di’s projects. This is definitely a departure from the Cold Fairyland progressive rock -- much softer, but no less ambitious. =D

The French music publication Kochipan interviewed Lin Di and Jeremy Lasry from Cold Fairyland & Swing Shine (上海香颂). The link above is for the Lin Di interview; read the Jeremy Lasry interview HERE. Topics include how they started working together, how difficult it is to get people in China to pay attention to music once they have become 'apartment slaves'. (that part was quite depressing, actually) Lin Di talks about the long time it took to release The Gossypium Era. There are links and videos in both interviews. =)
Here is the audio track from the last post on Lin Di of Cold Fairyland. This song is available for free download at last.fm. ------------------------- As to the video embedding problems in the last post, I think it is some new incompatibility between Youku & Tumblr on Chrome. (At least on a Mac) I can watch the clip within tumblr using Opera, Safari, and Firefox, but not in Chrome. It also works on my iPad. Disabling AdBlock doesn't seem to have any effect. (I can view the clip embedded in facebook and directly at Youku, of course, even using Chrome) Anybody have any tips about Youku video?
This is a video 林笛 Lin Di of Cold Fairyland just posted. It is a song she originally wrote in 2006 for Buddhist Scriptures, commissioned by the Taiwanese Buddhist Organization. She recently found the 2011 global warming documentary, Chasing Ice, and she felt it was a perfect visual to accompany her piece. This is gloriously beautiful & hypnotic, and the text is on screen so you can read along with Lin Di's multi-tracked harmony. Light some candles, dim the house lights, and fall into a trance. (seriously!) And when you come to, head over to last.fm and free download the audio. By the way, this clip is also on Lin Di's channel at youku video site, and there are many videos there from Cold Fairyland, SwingShine, LinDi solo, etc. ----------------------- Um, I can't seem to get the clip to play on tumblr, (possibly because I use a browser AdBlock) but you can easily watch it at Lin Di facebook and Youku. Is anyone able to get the clip to play in tumblr? ------------------------ Update: Di shared this video again tonight (March 2) this time to her YT channel, so now we can all see it. (Any mainland readers can see the video at the Youku link above!)
