“Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it?”
Benjy snorted at Lily’s remark and thanked the barista who handed him his muffin. He joined her side in front of the pastries vitrine, smiling politely at the couple who wanted to take a look too but whose view was blocked by the young witche’s body. This morning, they had decided to meet in this cute muggle coffee shop, and Lily had been standing in front of the display window for the last ten minutes, and Benjy was seriously wondering how someone could have such a hard time making this kind of simple choice. “Is it so hard to choose between apple crumble and croissant?” He asked, genuinely curious, and a badly faked cough coming from behind reminded him that people would start to riot if Lily didn’t make a quick decision.
With another apologetic look tossed at the other clients, Benjy pocketed out a few bills and shoved them into Lily’s hands. “Here, take everything you want and if there’s something you don’t like I’ll finish it for you, alright?” He suggested even though there was absolutely no place for arguing, and he hoped that Lily was clever enough to hear that fact in his voice.
Really, how could she not see that people were bothered and getting impatient? It was noticeable in the tap of a man’s foot on the floor and some woman’s third sigh during the last minute. The only thing Benjy wanted to do right now was to offer his apologies to the whole world, run away and disappear for a whole month.
