Hello! (side blog is abotanicalwitch), I was trying to do more research into Norse paganism (aligned with your organizations inclusive beliefs), and a similar site called Forn Sidr (located in Norway I believe) and some other blogs were honestly terrifying. It made me really hesitant about researching more, if you could maybe recommend some books (I’m forgetful) on offerings and Norse paganism and such I would be very grateful, I’ve only seen either rune books or books not in English. Thanks ❤️
Oh! you found Christopher Bjornson and his terrifying cryptofascist website. He runs a blog/company that focuses on hypermasculine marketing and trying to recruit people for his ...group? Idk what to call it - but they go pretend to be Viking warriors in the woods and learn to wrestle and make beard oil or some shit. He’s trying to capitalize on ‘Forn Sidr’ to drive sales. It’s ridiculous. If it’s any comfort, he’s the only one that demonstrates Forn Sidr that way and he doesn’t even consider himself a Pagan.
I have lots of resources listed on my blog in the #resources tag. Unfortunately finding sources in English that aren’t rife with misinformation, UPG masquerading as canon, or a thin undertone of white nationalism is exceptionally hard. I definitely recommend focusing on trying to understand the culture around Norse Paganism through academic articles and papers published on the significance of different concepts in Norse worldviews and in Norse animistic beliefs. Academia.org is a great place to start. I also have links in my resources tag to a Norse occultist, Arith Harger, who’s also a scholar of Norse History. I’d also suggest looking through the archive for @thewitchofthenorse.
I’m also, slowly, working on my website to be a helpful resource for beginners. Unfortunately, it has a backseat to finishing college and my job at FSOA. Working on it though.
Tags to look through on my blog are gonna be #resources, #beginner, #norse, and #forn sidr.
