Plot twist: Clarisse’s rivalry with Percy really started as a result of him stealing her nickname for Annabeth, not because of him breaking her spear in that Capture the Flag game. She’s chill with that, she acknowledges that he was defending himself and broke her spear as to avoid electrocution while standing in water which would really suck regardless of his parentage, but she’s really mad that he stole her nickname and now she has to get a new one because Percy uses it affectionately and as a sorta pet name so she can’t use it anymore without it being super weird.
Lmao, she hears about Percy using her nickname for Annabeth when Annabeth gripes to her siblings as she packs her stuff, and the siblings mention it later, and is entirely incensed. She’s 100% ready to fight over it.
First it was an insult, that was okay! Then he used it in a nice way later and what- she can’t use that anymore- how dare he! She only got two uses out of it in canon :( So unfair to her.
