I’m really glad that I’m going back and thinking about all this stuff again because I kind of forgot that it was a point of confusion of whether that basement was actually part of the house somehow? And I’m glad that past me had at some point gone back through all the entries with Brian’s house specifically to get an idea of the layout, and
assuming that, when Jay opens the closet door from the inside to get out, it does actually lead him where that door should lead (back into the first-floor hallway of the house), then the door across from that closet - the one that slams closed with the Masky mask hanging on the doorknob - would be the door leading to the little HVAC closet aka the BONE room, which definitely? Doesn’t lead to any kind of basement.
And I love that! I love how fucking bizarre and creepy that is!
