“You’re flailing. You’ve got a weapon in your hands -- use it.”
His words were stern, but there was no venom behind them. No anger. He stood across a small circle marked in the sand from a young Viera, the comparison between the two almost comical. He had left his axe outside the ring, only using his claws while his opponent -- apparently someone he was training? -- had a pair of daggers. She launched herself at him again -- and again he caught her before the daggers could strike home, swiftly -- but surprisingly gently -- tossing her back to the sand. He sighed, watching her expression, before walking over to offer a hand and lift her back onto her feet.
“Do not be afraid to strike, no matter who you face. Always be willing to-- hn-?” He stopped short, looking down at where her dagger had glanced off his chainmail and sliced through the leathers protecting one arm, drawing blood. The sneak attack caught him by surprise, getting a bark of laughter before he could stop himself.
“Yes, like that.”
He brushed off the girl’s fretting when she saw the wound, roughly tousling her hair between floppy ears.
“Insect bite. Is fine.”
A few seconds later, he was left to follow behind a very offended opponent as she headed back toward the Holdings.
